Drin Lon 7,875
Hello dear GagaDaily family I haven't posted in what feels like a lifetime. But I have been having a big resurgence in compulsive Gaga listening lately, probably because I miss her so much and the what will soon be 4 year period of no new pop album is really starting to sink in. As such, I was revisiting Chromatica a lot because I remember that at some point I stopped listening to the album because I either overindulged in it, or it wasn't quite matching my expectations. Upon revisiting it though, I think that most of the album has actually aged fine and I can appreciate the 90s influence more. This is is also a special album because it is her first tour I have attended and I absolutely loved it. She is phenomenal! I definitely agree that she could have gone with rawer versions of the songs, where the 90s influence would have been more present and less cough conventional bloodpop production cough, but regardless I understand she wanted to craft a palatable return to dance music and that is fine. However, I took the liberty of cutting the track-list short by a few tracks, and I will shortly explain why. Chromatica I Alice Rain On Me Free Woman Fun Tonight Chromatica II 911 Sour Candy Enigma Replay Chromatica III Sine From Above Babylon So as you can see I think a 10 songs version of the album would have been a pretty immaculate body of work which could have potentially made the album even more popular with the critiques. I'll give reasons for each omission. Stupid Love - I love the idea of the song, could have been a classic of hers and I know they wanted it to be a hit by also having Max Martin on it, but for whatever reason the production is too graving to the ear, it just doesn't work. Plastic Doll - this one has an immaculate production, however I do not feel like it adds much lyrically to the album, and I also feel like the chorus could have used some tweaking around with the vocal mixing. Overall it just comes off as a little tacky. 1000 Doves - beautiful song, the dance version is just kinda basic. I though it was really good upon first listen and a contenter for a next edge of glory, however the beat drop is beyond dated. Now on this note, Fun Tonight also has what some would consider a dated beat drop, however it is more explosive and overall more infectious. These songs could have been included in a deluxe edition together with Love Me Right, with 1000 Doves as the piano version which is so much more beautiful. Personally I would have chosen Alice as the lead single, with ROM next, then Fun Tonight (I find it has the strongest chorus and vocals in the album and it's very radio friendly) and finally Sour Candy. However this doesn't really matter at this point. Let me know what you think of this shortened track-list and I hope all this gaga nostalgia means new music is one the way! PS: Joanne is a great album which still sounds as good as day 1, definitely the album that I have been appreciating more and more through the years! Anderson123 38,372
I live for 911 -> Sour Candy -> Enigma -> Replay but Stupid Love still deserves it’s spot, especially with Free Woman in there. 1000 Doves is also beautiful as much as I prefer the piano demo over the dance one but still enjoyable. I guess the only song I could live without is Plastic Doll but at least we got 13 songs.

The more songs the better of course, that's why I still would want the songs to be accessible somehow/ a deluxe edition.

It just fits so much better than having Plastic Doll and Sour Candy sandwiched between them. Though in my personal listing, I have Enigma after Sine From Above. Mainly because I adore Enigma and I wanted it closer to the end of the album. Billionaires are a cancer. Even the ones you like.

You never forget your first opening night of the artRAVE is still extremely vivid in my mind despite my memory being garbage haha I saw the Chromatica Ball three times (DC, LA, and Miami) and honestly it was an amazing experience. 2 hours ago, Drin Lon said: I definitely agree that she could have gone with rawer versions of the songs, where the 90s influence would have been more present and less cough conventional bloodpop production cough Very this Comparing the unique and sonically appealing Free Woman demo to the polished but empty sounding final version just highlights how much life Bloodpop and even Gaga can suck out of extremely good songs. They took what would have EASILY been a top 5 (in her discography) song for me and made it the biggest disappointment I've even had from Gaga musically. Billionaires are a cancer. Even the ones you like.
