Uh what. This thread is about whether or not she release the video. It literally wouldn’t matter as someone else said. She was already grinding on him in live performances and the song was already on the album. If she released the video and then took it down with the song, she’d be in the same place she is now.

her grinding on him in a performance that hardly anyone has seen or remembers isn't the same as having him dressed as a doctor molesting her unconscious body in a music video

Gaga obviously wanted to make really high concept art pieces at the time that would have brought her controversy, but looking back they were in bad taste and there’s a reason none of it happened.

She ended up putting the music first which paid off.

omg I'm quaking, I just went through all of Gaga's littlemonsters.com posts from July 2012 and there was so many hints she dropped about the video. She made a post saying "Celebrity Avengers" which was in the video outline and more. I screenshotted all of them and I'm working on compiling a document with all of the receipts because the hinting was THERE :nooo:

Also, when reading the outline, I kept getting a low-budget artsy slasher/splatter film vibe. This was around the same time she was in Machete Kills, I can so see the MANiCURE video having similar vibes as Machete Kills

When you work in something related to art, both film and music, concepts change so much over time that at the end of the day no matter how much you tell press etc "This is what I wanted to do, this is the concept we chose, this is when pop sucks the tits of art", it will always bear some changes in the making. That's to say EVERY era Gaga had in mind was altered as it went through. Even if it was never made public, that's what happened since day one and it pretty much reflects on ARTPOP: it was designed to be shocking and rebellious, chaotic and all over the place, but just like art istelf, the original plans were never coming to fruition as they were sketched, trust me.

Long story short: her career would've been adjusted to some changes anyway, original ARTPOP or not, so the controversy would've been only temporary
