It started with her IG Story post,

And a lot of people are unhappy about that, especially since her status as the most followed woman on IG

What’s wrong with products being made in South Korea? Did I miss something? :laughga:

I don’t think they meant anything wrong with it being made in SK they’re just pointing out the dupes

This is exactly why if celebrities are gonna say some dumb sh*t they might as well not say anything at all

rare beauty is one of the most popular makeup brands so I doubt it’s gonna take a significant hit because of this

I don't get it, where is she saying she supports Israel? I think she's being pretty neutral and that's a common sharing towards war, does she have to take a side mandatory?

The Internet is saying yes. If you are neutral, you are with Israel.

If she posted in support of Palestine, Israel supporters would be mad
If she posted in support of Isreal, Palestine supporters would be mad
If she posts something being neutral, then she's taking a side and people are mad
If she posted nothing, then she wouldn't use her platform and people would be mad

Can't win  That's Internet nowadays

Holding celebrities responsible is so easy.

"Oh, why didn't the most followed celebrity post #prayforpalestine? THAT would've change everything"

Omg, she didn't say anything wrong.

Just a post where she says about peace, kindness.

Celebrities have their own career. They are neither politicians nor journalists. Just like rest of us they have limited knowledge about other stuff. On top of it, they have pretty busy schedule. People shouldn't expect expert level commentary from them on complicated social-political issue. They are expert in their career field such as acting, music only.

"But why not basic sympathetic post?" Because they get dragged for that as well. It's better to remain silent than be wrong. Except even their silence is taken for endorsement. In such cases it's better to announce your silence, just like Selena did here. I don't think she support Israel or she's a monster who is braying for Palestinian blood.

As a leftist, I'm so tired of the continued accusations of everyone making everything about themselves. People claim that everyone should be free to share their stories, but the second they do to share light on an event it's them making an event about themselves. As an activist myself I'm sick of it because this is why a lot of people don't take us seriously.
