I guess she figured the fans she would alienate by making this choice would be outweighed by the fans gained being exposed on national TV. LOVEDRUG 10,786 Posted October 11, 2023 Share Posted October 11, 2023 yeah this shows blatant disregard for fans. i'd be furious. especially with how raye's entire current situation is the result of her fans defending her and sticking by her through an incredibly tricky time with her previous label. it feels very much like passing up the chance to perform for your fans for an attempt to gain more popularity/money. emili0 1,507 Posted October 11, 2023 Share Posted October 11, 2023 I love her and am so stoked to see her next month - I don’t see the harm in prioritizing a major push for her career as an independent artist, especially considering the **** she went through with her label. She’s offering refunds and even free tickets + meet&greets to the nearest show for those who can make that. She also mentioned that she has a live album coming out, so the platform to perform and promote that on a bigger scale is worth it in the long run. She has the potential to be one of the best voices in pop/r&b/jazz in my opinion, and I support her being aware of an opportunity that can help with the trajectory of her career/exposure. Leoooo 2,284 Posted October 11, 2023 Share Posted October 11, 2023 For a UK artist, the chance to crack into America is always going to be huge deal, we grow up absorbing American pop culture and I'm sure she has dreamed of a chance to be involved in it since she was a kid - Newport isnt going anywhere & fans will most likely all live there or close - it's a tricky one, but i'm glad she was transparent with it and overall, in terms of what could / will be lost and what could / will be gained, I think she made the right choice.
