RAMROD 117,142
The European Commission said on Monday it was putting all its development aid to Palestinians, worth 691 million euros ($729 million), under review and immediately suspending all payments following Hamas' attack on Israel. "The scale of terror and brutality against Israel and its people is a turning point," Oliver Varhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, said in a post on social media. "There can be no business as usual." Hamas militants killed 700 Israelis and abducted dozens in the deadliest such incursion since the Yom Kippur war 50 years ago, prompting Israel to retaliate with its heaviest ever bombardment of Gaza, which has killed more than 400 people. Varhelyi said all new budget proposals for Palestinian aid were also postponed until further notice. "The foundations for peace, tolerance and co-existence must now be addressed," he said. "Incitement to hatred, violence and glorification of terror have poisoned the minds of too many," he added. "We need action and we need it now." Earlier on Monday, Austria said it was suspending aid worth tens of millions of euros to Palestinians in response to the attack on Israel to ensure funds were not flowing into the wrong hands, while Germany was reviewing its support. https://www.reuters.com/world/eu-freezes-aid-payments-palestinians-after-hamas-attack-israel-2023-10-09/ (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ ᶠʳᵒⁿᵗ ᵗᵒʷᵃʳᵈ ᵉⁿᵉᵐʸ (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡
Meat 18,962
Why were they even giving them money in the first place? They should help peaceful countries like Nepal, Bhutan and Taiwan instead.
Edonis 28,974
When Palestinian women and children were getting set on fire and blown up over the past years by the IDF and violent settlers, where was the removal of aid to Israel?

According to the bloc, it has provided humanitarian aid to help meet Palestinians’ basic needs since 2000 through the European Commission’s humanitarian aid department (ECHO) and the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Since 2000, ECHO has provided 700 million euros of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. https://apnews.com/article/eu-palestinians-aid-israel-hamas-be4681a821bac98728e131a8c6abb552# (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ ᶠʳᵒⁿᵗ ᵗᵒʷᵃʳᵈ ᵉⁿᵉᵐʸ (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡
Bambino 24,321
I wonder if this means the aid given to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank because this could truly mean a disaster 6 minutes ago, Meat said: Why were they even giving them money in the first place? Palestine is a country under military occupation with no access to any sources whatsoever.

FWIW, since 2007: - Nepal has received €3.3 billion in aid; - Bhutan has received € 229.9 million in aid; - Palestine has received €12.4 billion in aid Taiwan is amalgamated into the figure for China, which is € 13.3 billion The top 5 recipients of aid in Asia have been Afghanistan, India, Syria, Iraq, and China https://euaidexplorer.ec.europa.eu/explore/recipients_en

I mean where else would they get all the money to buy rockets and ammunition. I’m all for supporting the people but it looks like they aren’t benefiting from these aids at all. Could you tell me how much money do rich Arabic countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar and UAE send to Palestine? I’m curious.

Aglaya 8,505
People are too blind to realise this is a war crime, and millions of children, women and men will suffer from this aid shortcut. The gulf countries have been historically anti-Palestinian for decades. Furthermore, there has been animosity against Levantine Arabs from the gulf for over a century, and that has grown over the years. Genuine question and this is not meant as an attack but you’re in all of these threads so: how much do you actually know about Middle Eastern politics? In the period 1994–2020, the Arab League and its members donated a total of $8.5 billion USD, with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Algeria, Qatar, and Kuwait as top 5 donors. The annual support has plummeted since 2020 by and is now only about 20% of what it used to be. Support from SA alone dropped by 77%– Qatar increased their donations and are now the highest donor https://palthink.org/en/2022/08/11744/
