If anything, this has amazing potential. We all know Usher is a great performer. I really hope he brings out Lil John and Ludacris for “Yeah!”

Also, why is Kim in the commercial? What did I miss?

Odd, they’ve had no problem doing male acts for multiple years, up to 7 years in a row.

they had 4 females between 2012-2017
2012: Madonna
2013: Beyoncé
2015: Katy Perry
2017: Lady Gaga

but now it looks like they have band/group of artists, female, male every 3 years
band/group - 2016: Coldplay
female - 2017: Lady Gaga
male - 2018: Justin Timberlake
band/group - 2019: Maroon 5
female - 2020: Shakira Jlo
male - 2021: The Weeknd
band/group - 2022: Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige & Kendrick Lamar
female - 2023: Rihanna
male - 2024: Usher

it's unlikely that they asked any female singer after Rihanna headlined last year.

Edit: This double posted lmao.

Well if we're being technical, Gaga didn't have to be 'relevant', she had the catalogue/hits to perform at the HTS as she was the biggest pop star from 09-13.

Why are so many people being salty?? He's definitely got the catalogue and he's a pretty good live performer. I think this'll be good, I'm hyped

LMAO The Weeknd & Rihanna are pop...like how is that even a question? Not everything has to be clear cut to be pop - you can have influences from other genres but at the end of the day they both make pop music.

Usher has more number one singles than Gaga…not really fair to say. The entire point of doing the halftime show is to stop being irrelevant. It worked for Gaga it could work for Usher.

Lady Gaga doesn't owe us anything

Maybe they just wanted a white artist instead

edit: was trying to say that people are claiming they are r and b artists to say they are sick of r and b when they really mean that they are sick of having black performers because as you said both of those are pop artists. Bad phrasing on my end

Why are you comparing their #1's?

Also I disagree with that, I mean I don't think Bruce Springsteen and The Rolling Stones were trying to be 'Relevant'. and if we are on this topic, You don't necessarily even need to be relevant to be an artist, countless indie artists have their careers.

Gaga has even said herself she wants to be 'relevant and Irrelevant at the same time', so I don't really think she went into it with that perspective, like at all.
