Controversiaga 9,213
Lets take a look at times when major pop artists reinvented themselves with a new sound and new look. Here are some of my top picks. I think these are all quite obvious choices- so what are yours? Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Maxine Puth 9,052
Even though 2014 and CTC was the “beginning” this was the moment she went from niche eccentric New York pop star to GP / Hollywood favorite
Smother Em Eh 6,919
Is an obvious answer as well. From the sound to the aesthetic to her look and the way she spoke and sang. It really was the YIN & the YANG. Get Applause & G.U.Y to 1B views!
gumzy3000 6,921
I think Dua Lipa with the Future Nostalgia era was a huge step in her career. She was known for making some decent pop songs, kind of like Gaga with The Fame, but then she releases Future Nostalgia which was just much better musically in every way possible. She really pulled a jump like Gaga did with The Fame Monster, and started to become a household name worldwide. trolly troll troll

Lucas 23,833
Ray Of Light era was a phenomenal reinvention. Her vocals, voice sound, song writting, spirituality, motherhood, looks, artistry, her interviews... Everything was a brand new side of Madonna and everything was a slay and on point. TEANUS 12,168
ARTPOP to C2C was INSANE. I mean cmon, she was literally touring an EDM pop album with tracks about pot and planets and then released a cover album of jazz standards with one of the most respect voices in jazz British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
Bronco 5,532
Just commenting ones I think folks have missed so far: Madonna's switch from her 80s pop to the Erotica era is iconic & set the mould for every other shift by her that followed. I'd count Marina's transformation into Electra Heart & the associated era as well. It really solidified her as an alt pop icon. Rina reinvented herself from her RnB sound on Rina into the absolute master magician of genre blending we saw on Sawayama. Miley deserves a shout out for her Plastic Hearts era reinvention that not only rebuilt her career but also really showed off her rock vocals which are amazing. And also as a major P!nk fan, i'd be stupid to not highlight her reinvention when she released Mizundastood because there is no way she'd have outlasted so many other pop girls from 00s era without that switch from RnB to pop rock.
