Response to this album reminds me of response to BTW, tbh! People talkin bout how Olivia's copy songs, breaking records, flopping, a mess, stale, new and fresh, groundbreaking, all at the same time.

 

Honstly feeling like it's evidence of just how influential she's become.

I’ve been listening to Guts and I actually think it’s better than Sour. I love the fast songs on it so much. Her delivery on so many of the lines is hilarious.  Get Him Back! might be my favourite new song of the year it’s so fun. lLove is Embarrassing is also great. All-‘American Bitch is a great opener and I love the way it continues directly into the next song Bad Idea Right which just gets better for me everytime I hear it.  I love this album already.

It's a solid album. It's basically Sour 2.0 but without the many standouts songs on the first record. Dan's production is getting tiresome to me. It didn't grab me like Sour but I'll still listen to it. I wish she did something different sonically and as far as songwriting goes.  Her song writing is getting a little too melodramatic for me. Guts is another ballad heavy record from her with a few pop rock songs thrown in about being betrayed/hurt, realizing it's her fault too, teen angst and boys. Some of the songwriting about boys is too juvenile for me. I'm looking forward to the deluxe songs because unlike Sour this album didn't feel like a full body of work to me mainly because there aren't many standout or catchy tracks.

Fun fact- Olivia has 6 top 10 in US, while Billie only 5, even though Billie had a longer and more successful career.

What Olivia has achieved in such short time is insane. Kudos to her
