Teletubby 147,215
An AI singer has become the first creation of its kind to secure a major record deal. The virtual entity named Noonoouri has officially released a debut single after signing with industry giant Warner Music. While the deal is a novelty in the music industry, it is understood that royalties from the debut track will be divided between the record company, a DJ who contributed to the track, and the creator of the character. The AI character has 400,000 followers on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/noonoouri/ She became the first such creation to be given a fashion deal, signing with Dior in 2018 and securing her place as the first ever “virtual influencer”. source "You b*tch!" ~ Rat Boy

TwistedTeeth 2,172
This can either go two ways: Hatsune Miku iconicity or that one AI IG model that people only cared about for a week and then forgot about. This song isn't on Hatsune Miku's level CHOMP.

SevenWonder 4,296
I really, really hope no one supports this. Just my take, of course, but I really think this is dangerous. Not this bot in particular. But it's a slippery slope. Starts with something silly and fun. Then it turns. Maybe I'm wrong.

Nemo 4,286
It's an interesting choice, considering the recent ruling that AI creations can't be copyrighted.
Melodean 8,328
This is actually terrible, and I don’t mean the song (well the song too). There are real people trying to get a music deal. lasagna 2,825
song sucks it sounds like a jessie j and maroon 5 collab experiencing torture aside from that i dont know how this doesnt raise copyright or plagiarism concerns given machine learning / how ai just collages already existing material hatsune miku is spinning in her grave
Bebe 17,065
Interesting, I appreciate the fear around these AI singers taking over and replacing artists HOWEVER I think this is just an extension of what the music industry has done for a long time - find a marketable young person who has the right look and can hold a tune, create an image for them, get a team of hit writers and producers to create for them, choreographers and talent to help with live shows and some slick music video directors to produce music videos. There is still going to be a market for genuine and authentic artists, if this (or AI like this) becomes a success I think it will only divert writing and producing resources usually spent on their manufactured artists to this, clearly manufactured, AI and artists who demand more control of their sound will be the human side of things. HugoJG 1,108
It was a matter of time. I mean, even the voices of real artists are being copied with AI.
hELXIG 42,882
Oh god here we go, buckle innnnn I've been saying that pretty soon people will be selling the rights to their image and voices to be used by ai to create music/pop stars, instead of real artists being front and centre. I'm sure the record label execs are all rubbing their hands together like flies, thinking about all the money they can save not having to pay a performer, while pocketing millions in revenue. Art will just continue to become more artificially produced and less heartfelt, less human I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
