Gaga’s most experimental album?

I definitely think a lot of what made ARTPOP experimental was her speech and motive for the album. What she'd planned to exemplify was that, but the actual content of the album was in-line with a lot of mainstream EDM-inspired pop (Think: Zedd) and even "Applause" plays off her sound from previous eras. That's not to say she wasn't ahead of the curve in some ways - I actually think groove on Do What U Want has a lot of similarities to what we'd hear more popularized on Love Me Harder or even Style by Taylor.

That being said, it's definitely Born This Way that felt the most experimental. Or even Joanne, not at large, but for her audience and image.

Well you didn't say timeless, you said experimental. And you cannot doubt ARTPOP was very ambitious in it's experimentation. She basically tried every genre and did completely different things we'd never heard from her before, and smashed it all into one album. In fact a lot of the initial criticism about ARTPOP was that it was too disjointed and all over the place, trying too many things at once etc. Listen to all the songs on ARTPOP and tell me she wasn't experimenting...

Jewels & drugs is R&B rap trappy whatever with three features

Venus she tried producing on her own for the first time

DWUW was straight R&B with very R&B vocals

ARTPOP is viby and trancy

MANiCURE is pop-rock

Dope is the first song with the infamous 'dope vocals' and a ballad like we hadn't heard before

Fashion! is very funky

 

Literally every song is different and experimental

In fact even her fashion and visuals and everything about the whole era was experimental. She tried about every kind of fashion in those few years
