Do we think Gaga will extend her contract with MGM or will she finish it out?

The original contract between Gaga and MGM was for 74 performances at the price of $100 million. Gaga (to my knowledge) has so far completed 52 of those 74. The new Jazz & Piano shows will add twelve, bringing the total to 64. Come October 5th, she'll only have 10 more shows to go. I assume they'll schedule these for around the holidays since Vegas is a very popular Christmas/New Year's spot. It just seems odd to me that they wouldn't announce all 22 shows now and then decide whether to renew or not.

Do we think Gaga has plans beyond MGM for future residencies (personally I'd love for her to do an all out flapper-esque speakeasy show at The Colosseum) or do we think they extended the contract for even more J&P (and/or a pop show)?

I don’t feel like it’s in her priorities right now. She would have to sign a new contract, build up a new show etc. I mean she’d have more than enough time for that, since the Joker promo will probably begin at the end of next summer. But I feel like she’s got other things planned. I mean, I might be totally wrong, but that’s just how I feel about it. She might do other Jazz shows, tho

I feel like she might, she seems to enjoy it a lot. Less demanding that world touring etc

Agreed. She loves it there and the convenience for her. Everyone acts like she is trying to get out of Vegas asap, but thats far from the truth. I believe she will extend

She cancelled 10 shows, most of them because of covid but I dont think she's planning on rescheduling those. Probably do the 12 she announced and move on.

I think she will. She loves performing jazz and it’s much easier on her body.

I think she will sign a new and better contract, with jazz only, because she showed MGM how successful it is. It’s perfect for her to have a residency in LV because she can do what she loves and then go home afterwards.

I definitely think she will continue and sign a new contract. MGM treated her really well the first go around and it seems like shes had a blast tapping into the vintage Vegas attitude.

The videos of her running around casinos, gambling, partying, swimming in the Mansion at MGM, performing with her friends makes it seem like a perfect gig for her.

She proved to be a must-see the first go around so there’s no way MGM wouldn’t treat her like a golden goose with a new contract. It also seemed (sans Covid) relatively easy for her to dip in & out without rigorous & strict stipulations to how often she has to perform.

I'm hoping she extends and makes a show that combines Enigma and Jazz/Piano. A greatest hits show with spectacular jazz versions of her old songs. A true marriage of the two worlds. I don't understand why she keeps them so separate all the time.

I understand what you're saying, and I do believe that if it's done right it could work, but it would have to be very carefully executed because for most people, going from Judas to Orange Colored Sky in the same show is very jarring.

It would be very jarring to do the "original" versions of those two songs, but in the past Gaga has proven to be very capable of blending multiple genres. Which is why I find it odd that jazz never barely bled into the sound of her albums. I'd be obsessed over a jazz/electronics fusion in either new material or a greatest hits format.

Kylie's performance below is a great example of how it could work. Get a live band together, re-arrange an old track with new instrumentation and creating an exciting live show where old songs get new life. And at the same time, Gaga would push the genre that she has so much love for.

And honestly while watching the ending of that Kylie video (4:12 onward), it also reminds me how easily Gaga could transition something like that to a more metal-oriented sound and do a completely genre-bending show :firega:

Pop doesn't have to be in it's own seperate bubble, and neither do all the other genres that Gaga loves.
