Maybe we should thank him. Her career might have ended up very differently had he not done it.

On the contrary, I am glad that happened. Otherwise she won't be with Intercope, that's let her do her thing, and redefines a genre and the very word of POP STAR. :gaga:

Based on all the demos that leaked form that time, she was probably fired cos she don't wanna do hip hop soundng pop that were on the rise. She would have been another pop star if she stucked there. The only thing I regret out of this is OOC could have been in an album lmao :ororomunroe:

He signed P!nk originally and forced her into doing RnB as well, it's like it's the only genre he can understand.

Now I love Can't Take Me Home, but everything she did after she was given the "opportunity to fail" (his words) by Reid was significantly better than anything he made her do.

I’m sure he does but we can thank him for that because that gave her the fuel to become the artist she is today. Can’t imagine the amount of talented people that have missed their chance because of this. It’s one of the good things about streaming, Instagram, Tik Tok, YouTube and all of these new ways of being able to show your music/voice out there.

The only downside about this for me is that I love super mega stars in music, and now with success diluted and divided by more people, huge names like

- Lady Gaga

-Justin Bieber

- Taylor Swift

- Katy Perry

- Beyonce

-Eminem

- Britney Spears

I could go on and on, you get the point... Stars like that are not created with the same frequency anymore and are much more rare now...

There's something about the super mega star I find cool and fascinating and we won't have as many of those names anymore. And the ones we still get probably won't reach Lady Gaga's, Justin Bieber's or Taylor Swift's level of peak

She didn't any more abusers in the industry around her than she already had, so it's ultimately good that she went with Interscope.

But if he hadn't dropped her, things would have been different for her and who knows how her careeer would have developed.... From what I understand, she was a different musician when she was singed with him.

Besides his sexually abusive behavior towards his assistants, I believe it's rumored that he pushed a lot of artists in directions they didn't care for or didn't like (e.g. Pink is definitely one of them, but I know I've read of others.....I just can't recall their names). Also, I "believe" it was rumored he pushed artists to get plastic surgery, etc.

People on here like to drag Akon (and he is kind of problematic, although at least he isn't an abuser like so many people in the industry), but he gave Gaga a "lot" of freedom when she was signed with KonLive (which was part of Interscope). Regardless of how their relationship suffered during ARTPOP (though they seemingly made up), he at least seemed to treat her fairly as an artist....which seems (sadly) unusual because you hear so, so many stories of artists being screwed over by their contracts, told they can't release x or y, etc.
