Is this necessary? Why do americans need to do this kind of stuff?

Do you think slavery is a good thing? No? That’s what the right is trying to teach children in shook curriculums right now.

Yes this is necessary

Yay let's segregate this nation even more, as if it wasn't divided enough. Next step we put pink stars on queer students (or rainbow that would be more trendy).

Horrible take.

Oh so queer youth needs to be educated differently? :huntyga:

Queer youth are not given queer inclusive curriculum in U.S. schools. Yes.

Most of my college students have never had queer history or queer issues addressed in any prior education setting.

Most of them wish they had been included in the curriculum in their schools.

I'll admit i don't know what they teach in american schools, and yes i might also expect them to teach this stuff but as an European the thought of separating straights and gays just sounds ridiculous

Is it reslly necessary tho? Queer history is pretty recent, they can look it up. I feel like Americans should have other priorities given how bad the scholar system is

Where did it say separate? Who said straight kids cant join this school. They’re gonna teach traditional classes in this school, with the addition of queer american history. This school is obviously going to be voluntary for parents to send their kids too…

Horny Chicken

This feels cult-like like that Donda Academy and those Christian boarding schools. If I had children, I’d send them to regular school and bring hell down on bullies rather than isolate them from straight people.

Is this an American thing? I can’t tell. :saladga:

straight kids are also allowed in these schools lol

these alternative schools are for parents that want a more accepting environment for their students

they will be taught the same curriculum as everyone else but with an emphasis on queer studies...

sorry you couldnt have that opportunity yourself i guess :triggered:

Students who are queer and value queer inclusive curricula would benefit from a school that offers them that. Acceptance and support help students do better in all subjects across the board.

No one's forcing them but that's what they're gonna do, tnking they're doing the right thing when it may be even more harmful. At one point they'll be grown ups who don't know how to socialize with straight people

I mean, if you were out already. But I'm 26 and I'm not even out yet, let alone at 12/13, when i didn't even know i was gay. A high school may have made just a bit more sense but middle school? You don't even know what you like. Who even thought about this?

a lot of people know they are gay at 12/13, some even earlier. and even if it turns out you're not gay, so what? it's not like by choosing to go there you are making a lifelong commitment or something.

What do you think patents can actually do in schools that tolerate abuse, where teachers partake in abuse?

What do you even mean by queer inclusive curricula? :huntyga:

Do you realize no other country is doing this? And it's not cause we're less inclusive.

Not this topic making you go “they can just look it up” when you can literally say that about every school topic ever. Kids don’t care about their education, so they won’t anyway. Also why bring up priorities when this not a priority? You realize priorities are set by the Department of Education in D.C. and not a random school in Arizona right?
