Is she waiting too long?

Not really after Chromatica she released DOC and LFS, a movie, she toured and she relaunched HL. Only in three years. I think we're getting used to cosuming music releases too often.

you can't really compare her to other pop stars or expect that level of content output. she's much more similar to cher, barbra, bette, etc. I know a lot of you are mostly in it for the music and get itchy at the thought of that not being her focus, but like... let's have a lil reality check here

I mean that's kind of irrelevant though?

We're talking about momentum/release cadence so what matters is when it was released. Like Gaga had nothing to do with DoC sure, but it was still additional content for fans.

It's not even one year since the last date of CBT, in the meantime bloody mary was everywhere, organically, with almost 0 promo and then a few pics from the set of joker 2 created a lot of buzz around the movie and her as an actress.

Gaga is a force by just doing absolutely nothing

I mean bloody Mary was a lucky fluke. If it wasn't for that she wouldn't have been on the spotlight for much at all.

That being said this break I feel may be smart. Given Joker 2 is likely to be a big movie. Releasing music a little closer to it's date may be a smart thing to do so that the success of one can bridge on to the next one continuously

I speaking purely in commercial success terms. Of course she doesn't have to try to be on top of she doesn't want to

The problem is not that she takes a long time between music it's that the eras are so short and not executed properly. Fans would be more than happy to wait another year for LG7 if they had more chromatica content to refer back to. I so wish we got more singles, videos, performances, and fashion

Not really. Future Nostalgia came out before Chromatica, and Dua hasn't dropped a new album yet. Happier than Even came out in the summer of 2021....Billie isn't really everywhere. She dropped two songs...that is it.

I feel like people are used to Taylor and Lana, who are very prolific, and forget that it's normal for artists to wait 2-3 years...sometimes even four years. If she doesn't drop anything until 2024, then I might agree, but for now I don't think it's a big deal.

but the Future Nostalgia Era lasted 3 years, promoting it everywhere, releasing new songs and doing a huge tour. Chromatica was active for a month in 2020 and for 2 months in 2022.

Shes a huge star and she wont get Xtina’d. But I honestly have no hype for anything right now bc she doesnt seem to have any plans to release anthing anytime soon. Maybe we get the chromatica ball film by christmas, but at the end of the day we have already seen it and thats nothing new, even if its nice to have a professional release of the tour

Head Empty

I was thinking about that Kylie / Gaga comparison last week, since DISCO and Chromatica both came out in 2020. But in the meantime, Gaga recorded two movies and released one, did a world tour, released Love For Sale, relaunched Haus Labs, worked on Top Gun Maverick AND had some high-profile performances like the VMAs and the inauguration.

In comparison, Kylie mainly rereleased DISCO two or three times, did a handful of collabs, did her live special, made wine and that's all I can think of.

Both of these things are fine. But when comparing them in terms of album releases, it makes sense that Kylie has an album ready and Gaga doesn't (as far as we know). And that's even without mentioning that Kylie bought a lot of the songs on Tension, where Gaga often writes the majority herself.

some of her peers are severely overexposed - gaga is a timeless talent. i wish we got an album, but honestly, talent always wins - shes not a trend. im hoping her next album is a commercial success - she prolly wont release a new album till wayyyy after the joker so dont hold your breath.
