ThisGuyTony 30,390
Before y’all report I’m an Olivia stan. I stan vampire but the stats for the song compared to her debut are kinda shocking. Week 1, it was her 2nd most streamed song in its first week with 52M streams. But Week 2, it dropped to 37M streams in a week, compared to ‘good 4 u’ which doubled its streams week to week or ‘drivers license’ which also had a notable increase in its second week. It’s not a flop per se, it’s still getting 5M+ daily streams, but it doesn’t feel as big as her debut era singles which is surprising considering how huge that era was. TheFame Monster 8,924
She’s no longer the new “it girl”. With Sour, she was a new artist and all eyes were on her after drivers license came out of nowhere. I’m not saying people aren’t interested in her now because clearly they are considering it will cross 100M streams on Spotify today. There’s also less drama involving vampire. The media and fans were analyzing every single lyric on Sour. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next single is bigger like how good 4 u came out with the album and was instantly bigger than deja vu. She hasn’t done any promo other than radio interviews, but she’ll probably go all out on album release week. I’m really excited for guts

Being a song that debuted at number one, and her second highest streaming song, this is not by any means an underperformance. But it’s a different context now. People were more curious when she first came out so after she debuted at drivers license because of her original fanbase news spread to the GP and streams kept building as more and more people heard of her for the first time and checked her out. It was the discovery phase. Now the whole world knows who she is and so her sophomore album debut single is frontloaded because she has a bigger fanbase who tunes in right away but there will be less of a discovery phase of people streaming to learn who she is because every knows already. Pablo 7,784
Because it's another song about heartbreak? Most of Sour is about that topic (don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the album) Don't visit my profile
RebeldeFaith 5,441
Has it been promoted anywhere else besides social media? Can I vanish into a cheeseburger pizza?
nATAH 48,790
it got number 1 and a new record in music history, why even bother promoting it anymore? nobody cares how many streams a song has outside of stan culture mother, what must i do?
Future Lovers 6,901
It’s natural when a debut album is so massive to experience a slight decline the second go around. Sophomore albums are tricky in general, but especially in the wake of a massive debut. By no metric is the song a flop, and really by no metric is it an underperformance. The highs she hit with Sour are not her standard, that was a lightning in a bottle thing that’ll never be replicated. There was absolutely no chance of recreating that one to one. Beyond that she can’t promote. All of the prime promo spots are not currently in production due to the strike.
Versace 7,959
1-The song debuted at #1 most likely from the hype built by SOUR 2-The song itself isn’t lead material and after a few listens really loses it’s replay value 3-She is not doing promo for it in the form of televised performances alongside interviews (unless I’m missing something) I’m rooting for her and hoping her sophomore album has something more exciting and unexpected. Cause Vampire and the album cover are making me feel we’re still in the SOUR era.

It’s a lot more about the anger of realizing someone took advantage of you than it is about being hurt that they’re gone.

Her era and many other album roll outs coming up are gonna be impacted by the strike because all of the primary television promo slots are currently unavailable due to the shows freezing production. boiswifty 1,051
it starts slow and it personally puts me off. I like the rest of the song especially the bridge but I tend to skip to the next song once i hear that slowass intro
