I have to agree to disagree I fear. 

Heteronormative hyper-sexuality has been, and still is, widely accepted. With artists like Gaga, Madonna, etc it is even CELEBRATED as someone owning their sensuality and breaking taboos. 

Queer people deserve to celebrate their sexuality and break taboos as well. To act conservatively and hide our sexuality simply because a stereotype of queer people being hyper-sexual exists is to allow ourselves to be oppressed and hidden because it makes straight people uncomfortable. 

We need to see more queer expressions of sexuality in the mainstream. The more we show it, the more normalized it becomes.

Puritanical mindsets are the poison that kills progress.

Just want to jump in on the fatphobia & body positivie stuff as a fat gender non-conforming queer. 

If we're going to criticize Troye for only having skinny/slim muscle body types in this video - we should also criticise Sam Smith for going on tour with a dance crew that only features 1 plus size dancer & the rest being skinny/slim muscle body types. 
If Lizzo can build an entire touring dance crew as big & beautiful as her while preaching body positivity, I'm sure Sam can as well. 

Also - I'm only mentioning Sam Smith because people here have used his body positive MVs against this MV in the thread. So just trying to demonstrate that - not everyone is perfect, including the large & in charge queers :P

A Troye Sivan video having larger people in it is not going to make my life as a larger person any easier. See a large man on my screen dancing with Troye Sivan is not going to make me feel any differently as a large man. Not everyone has to be represented in everything. 

There's plenty to discuss when it comes to how overweight people are treated in society but to expect the video for a poppers bottom anthem to be waving the flag for body inclusiveness is genuinely such an insane ask. Redirect that energy toward something that would actually be beneficial to the conversation. 

Really proud of u that you're not feeling insecure by this video, I wish every person would feel the same, I just want to say that the video is not only for you, your experience with body positivity is not the same for others who are struggling with it, so their voice should be heard too and not being ignored.

The video is great, we're celebrating LGBTQ+ like never before this year, but we shouldn't ignore body positivity once again, the subject always takes a back sit instead of being in front with other subjects, because what's the point of celebrating our culture if at the end an overweight LGBTQ+ is not feeling good to be a part of the party because they feel ashamed to take their shirt off and feel ashamed of their body?

Definitely reminds me of queer parties & raves in the UK & Germany. 
Not experienced many other European places tbf, although in my exp Spain is usually far far more like the Relax video by Frankie Goes to Hollywood

I gotta visit those places before I’m too old for that. I go to parties very rarely here, I really don’t feel the vibe but I definitely can see myself enjoying a party like the one from the video

Also I have to make more queer friends. I have lost touch with most of my old queer friends and I basically just have girlfriends now

I live in Berlin and can tell you there are no parties like it. And this video represents them very well.

That creates a world where some folks aren’t to exist in and that’s just not it. Not when we have so many bigger fish to fry.

My point is, though, feel your feelings, I can’t change that as you said, but I’d encourage you to also ask if it’s necessary to voice them when you know it’ll hurt someone and for what? It’s really very easy to choose what we put out into the world and it doesn’t have to be hurt especially when you personally are not being harmed.

Yeah like we separate body positivity and LGBTQ+ experience when that isn’t the reality anywhere, really! I, for one, have always had a better time when the space is diversified and I’m a skinny person! The burns are aaaalways higher because it’s so many different kinds of people being wild. That’s why diversity in parties is fun. You legit wind up not knowing what’ll happen next bc the people are so different from one another!
