LOVEDRUG 11,346 Posted July 6, 2023 Share Posted July 6, 2023 the problem is that elon's weird changes aside, twitter is a great platform (even if we still are missing some highly requested features), and it's hard to replicate another app's features without directly cloning it. the instagram compatibility is also weird, because one of the main draws of twitter, as stan twitter proves, is anonymity. people like having a platform where they can be anonymous and interact with other anonymous people, and not always in a 'spout hateful abuse' sense. i certainly wouldn't want my twitter account linked to my instagram account, and i wonder if there's a way to turn that off. threads will work well to gather a new userbase from the hoards of people who don't already have twitter, especially with the instagram compatibility making it easier for people to set up an account there. but twitter's audience has absolutely no use for it, as it's only lacking features, and seems to be lacking mainly the features that give twitter the upper hand.
