Lincoln, FDR etc were exceptions to the rule rather than exhibits of normal presidential behaviour. Biden doesn't have 1% of the political capital they held. In modern political climate ignoring/overturning the Supreme Court is a death wish (for a Democratic anyway). Biden is taking the 'correct' approach to look at alternative ways of getting the support thru

The university system needs to be changed in the West. Too many young people are dragged to college for no real purpose and end up with debt for low-value education. Universities are becoming very corporate and losing academic rigour by churning out papers saddled with debt.

I think we should be encouraging students to go to community colleges, do more internships and then have more options as an adult to pursue education. That way they can prepare for the debt and get employer support for something they know will be valuable.

I also know many people who went to a private or out-of-state university just for the sake of going to their dream school when they easily could have gone to a local in-state public school that still offers a great education, and have taken on a fourth of the student loan debt. In those instances, I think it is a lack of judgment on the part of the student and quite frankly I don’t feel much pity for them.

Remember when President Abe ignored the Supreme Court when they said no abolition?? Or when FDR ignored the court when they said no to the New Deal?? What happened to presidents like that??? In a normal world, Biden would ignore this and he’d have history AND the people on his side.

First of all, you can't do that any more.  He can not do that.  No seriously.

If he tried, he would be impeached and probably prosecuted.

But more than that, if he did - that would mean it was no longer a country of laws.  So you might like it in this case, but you're sure as hell not going to like it next time a Republican wins.

So what he will do is try to come at it in other ways.

But this happened because Trump won.

The only way to fix it is to keep electing Democrats which means people need to show up to vote, and stop demonizing Democrats - learning how the system ACTUALLY works - and stop wasting time on people like Marianne Williamson and Nina Turner and all the other people who hurt our side and cost us elections.

This obviously sucks for students, but the US is already in so much debt so I'm not at all shocked this didn't pass.

I'm not sure why they didn't try this using the Higher Education act in the first place. It was always dumb to try this using the HEROES Act.

Hopefully this one will go a little better, there's far less cracks in this particular path.
