Grammy Predictions: 79 days left in eligibility period

I can’t find the thread I made back in like winter. 🙈

There are 79 days left in the eligibility period for the 2024 Grammys. Shall we discuss our latest predictions?

AOTY: I’m more confident in Taylor taking AOTY again than I was in the past. Her image has absolutely exploded in America since my last thread and Midnights is the best selling album of the year. She has a very strong case for taking the grand prize for a FOURTH time. In my opinion, her biggest challenger is SZA’s “SOS.” Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing At A Time” has the potential to be a competitor. It’s a big enough album that voters might overlook his past controversies and show him love.

Another potential challenger will be Olivia Rodrigo’s sophomore album, “Guts.” IF it is a commercial success. She is a potential Grammy darling and I can see her being a nominee that voters rally behind. Plus her team is releasing it during the last week of the eligibility period, which makes me think the label has big hopes for the project.
There is also the possibility that a lesser-known album that has received critical acclaim will take the prize but I think this year will skew towards commercial success and I’m too lazy to look up the critically acclaimed stuff and see the artist’s track record with the Grammys. :vegas:

My ROTY and SOTY rankings pretty much include the same artists but in different order.

ROTY:

1 Kill Bill

2 Anti-Hero

3 Olivia Rodrigo submission

4 Miley and Morgan fighting for 4th place because they’re hated by the Academy but have massive songs.

SOTY

1 Anti-Hero

2 Kill Bill

3 Olivia Rodrigo submission

4 Flowers

The fact that 4 great songs have pretty much ruled this eligibility period has definitely influenced my predictions, if y’all haven’t notice. :billie:

Night Vision

If CBT Film is released before the deadline, and Gaga gets a nom for Best Music Film, it will be iconic that she's extending her run of being nominated every year since 2018.

I was wondering if anybody thinks most of the pop category has already been released? The 100% nom for me is Midnights. After that I don’t really know because the albums have been so mixed this year. Other than Taylor, the old faithfuls are absent to the point that if any of them released a half decent album I think it could at least get a nom.

So will the rest be Miley, Sam, Ed and Olivia?

Is it true that Gaga could submit Bloody Mary?  It seems like it’s well out of eligibility because it’s so old but Forbes seemed to think she could. Maybe because they released it as a single this year?

Not me forgetting about Ed. :air:
I think him and Olivia will be likely nominees in the pop categories. Maybe even general field. Don’t think Ed will take anything big though.

I think the source of that idea is that they released physical versions this year so technically it could make it eligible!

I don’t think Ed will see much tbh. = was already a step down in the Grammys eyes and - has been far less successful than his previous albums

I think SZA is gonna take it. Also hoping for Lana to get some noms, and wishfully thinking that Caroline might get at least some recognition for Desire.

Grammys hate Lana so much. NFR’s AOTY nomination still stuns me. :selena:

I keep seeing this kind of thoughts but why do you think like that?

What I think is realistic:

For the AOTY: Foo Fighters - But Here We Are

ROTY: SZA - Kill Bill

SOTY: Foo Fighters - The Teacher

Taylor doesn't deserve any General Field win this time, fhere are better contenders. In pop categories she has a better chance imo but due to her historic, I don't think pop voters like her so much. Her best shot is at Music Video.

the scars on my mind are on replay.
