Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin published a new audio recording Saturday claiming he was turning his forces around from a march toward Moscow. “We turning our columns around and going back in the other direction toward our field camps, in accordance with the plan,” he said in a message on Telegram. The announcement comes as the Belarusian government claimed President Alexander Lukashenko had reached a deal with Wagner boss to halt the march of his forces on Moscow. "This morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin briefed his Belarusian counterpart on the situation in southern Russia with the private military company Wagner," the statement said. "The heads of state agreed on joint actions. "As a follow-up to the agreements, the President of Belarus, having being additionally informed on the situation through his own channels, and in agreement with the President of Russia, held talks with the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin," the statement continued. "Yevgeny Prigozhin accepted the proposal of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to stop the movement of armed persons of the Wagner company on the territory of Russia and take further steps to de-escalate tensions." -- This seems... surprising to me? Prigozhin was just trolling in order to recieve more resources, awards and recognition from the Russian government for Wagner, that or he chickened out. He feels they were not reinforced and resuppilied enough in the aftermath of Bakmut. He has already turned back from whatever he was attempting to do and now he is going to be eliminated or thrown into jail at some point. Prigozhin is a complete moron if he thinks that Putin is going to just forgive and forget, his only chance is that Putin will keep wanting to use Wagner in the war and keep him around awhile longer while he serves a purpose. It was basically an overhyped rebellion where the leader wanted to pull some strings. We don't know fully what he got in concessions but it's over and back to fighting in Ukraine. There's some activity in Belarus which is basically under Russia's control. I think the West would rather have someone like Putin than Prigozhin (the leader of the rebel mercenary group) who seems even more volatile. Still, that's definitely put some fear into Putin about how unstable his regime is militarily. It's good for Ukraine's reputation as the sensible power in this situation. Though unfortunately, Putin's biggest and most dangerous weakness is that he doesn't like to lose face and look stupid, so he may unfortunately escalate things. Maybe it was too much wishful thinking to hope that the Ukrainian war could end like that, with no more bloodshed, with russian troops withdrawing to protect their own country rather than murdering ukrainians. Think of how some Westerners started cheering up for a far right Neo-nazi group trying to seize power in a nuclear armed country and then have the warlords try to battle for the nuclear facilities (as if this sounds like it could bring in any way security or safety for the world), moreover you ask for a civil war with different factions, supposedly supported by foreign countries (US-backed/ supported by China or Iran). I was extremely skeptical that this "Armed Rebellion" was anything more than a big joke the minute I started getting news from people saying a civil war had started in Russia. It reminds of the people saying Russia was going to take Kiev in a week or those individuals overestimating the progress this Ukranian counter offensive was going to achieve simply because they wanted it to be that way. Actually it was not a "big joke". It was something very serious. The Rostov Southern Command Military district was seized by Wagner. It controls roughly 20% of the Russian land forces and oversees the operations in Ukraine. Multiple airfields were seized in Rostov and Voronezh. Russia in a single day lost 7 aircraft, as in shot down by Wagner (helicopters and planes ), per Rybar, a reliable russian source. I don't think Ukraine managed to shoot down that many in a single week, let alone a day. The only thing that stopped this was the negotiations. But if it continued, Russia wouldn't have been able to stop it without withdrawing a significant number of troops from Ukraine, which was what I was hoping for. Prigozhin was bluffing in order to get more more of his demands for Wagner met, he has been talking out of his ass for a month or more. Prigozhim literally told you before he did anything that this was not a coup or an armed rebellion😂😂 What you were hoping for does not change reality. I called this whole thing a "big joke" because the media was portraying it as a civil war and it turned out to be nothing of the kind. But of course you had to jump on here the moment news of this broke and title your thread "Armed Rebellion Against Russia" without even waiting to see how quickly this so called "Armed Rebellion" would fizzle out like the wet fire cracker I suspected it was. Also, how do you know that Wagner could not have been stopped without withdrawing significant forces from the front in Ukraine? have you ever heard of something called potential reserve forces stationed in the interior? who knows how many troops Russia has that are mobilizing or stationed in reserve? or do you know that too because the Russian mininstry has provided you with detailed reports on the location of every military unit in the country or perhaps you have access to your own private satelite which moniters all potential Russian movements and troop buildup🤣🤣 Here is your throat back, thanks for the loan Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
