I mean I don't blame them cause my first reaction was "she must not know about it all."

But it can all be found after a 2 min Google search so I doubt she had zero clue before to be their new ambassador.

I'm over it now, glad she took it with some humour and addressed it in her own way. For what was probably less than a few hours work she bought herself many months of creative time, that's the way I'm looking at it. I dread to think what her monthly outgoings are, if Pfizer are footing the bill we just need to accept it, if it all leads to new music and things im sure we'll all quickly forgive and forget.

They also don’t understand how you can love her, and deeply respect her, but still be uncomfortable with her decisions, and instead make jokes about the disease that is America’s healthcare system by calling those who are upset “little monstrosities” “temper tantrums” and other Trump-like phrases as a means to Invalidating other’s concerns or feelings. 
 

I know so many of you have seen the videos of the drug addicts in cities such as Philly, but you still don’t see any problem with someone as powerful and legendary as Gaga working with big Pharma? Grow up lol. 

 

 

 

Immediately associating all pharmaceudicals with pain meds and pain meds with drug addicts is a pretty huge reach. I'm not denying that this collab is problematic, I just think that some of the leaps y'all are making trying to connect Gaga to these broader systemic issues are overblown. Didn't see this kind of blowback when Gaga performed at Coachella, even though the CEO donates millions of dollars to anti-LGBTQ+ organizations.

I never equated or associated all pharmaceuticals with pain-killers. I was equating the predatory practices of big Pharma and it’s connections and reaches throughout American socio-political-economics.

I guess in your world big Pharma never introduced opiates on a mass scale to the public, and even though all of this info is accessible to the public, you’ll just continue saying on the internet that my very straight forward words are “buzzwords” to comfort yourself.

I do know who the Sacklers are. And you bringing them up here immediately affirms the fact that you are painting "Big Pharma" as a monolith that is necessarily tied to the opioid crisis (which has very little to do with a migraine ad). Your level of condescension and unearned superiority are truly off the charts. You're claiming that you're not tying her to the issue, yet you're claiming that the ad creates a need to hold her accountable. Your argument absolutely ties her to the issue. By virtue of being a pop star in a corporate system, Gaga is often connected with corporations that do harmful ****. I'm not saying that it's right, but unless you're suggesting she completely divorce herself from the mainstream market, her not being in some way connected to a harmful corporation is a pipe dream.

This. All these 'people that were pressed must be so embarrased when she drops new stuff' comments miss the point imo.

The fact I do not agree with her advertising medication does not mean I want anything from her. It also doesn't mean I don't think she works hard. It doesn't mean that she focussed on money, not art. It doesn't mean that she lost all her credibility. It doesn't mean that I hate her or am hateful towards her.

It just means I feel she made a mistake and I feel that I can express that. I would do the same if she were my friend.
