Demi Lovato changed pronouns because explaining They/Them was exhausting

Demi Lovato has revealed why they decided to re-adopt she/her pronouns in addition to they/them pronouns.

In 2021, Demi announced they are non-binary and would be using they/them pronouns. Last year, they decided to also use she/her pronouns to avoid having to constantly explain herself.

I constantly had to educate people and explain why I identified with those pronouns. It was absolutely exhausting,” said Lovato in a new interview with GQ Hype Spain.

“I just got tired. But for that very reason I know that it is important to continue spreading the word.”

I agree with her that there's still a lot to be done raising awareness but isn't this kinda proof that it wasn't so important or serious to her...? :awkney:

Oh, Demi. First she said she changed them back because she was feeling more feminine. Now it's another story. So which is it?

How many times has she changed her pronouns now?

Don't get me wrong, I'll of course call her by whatever preferred pronouns she wants. But damn sis

I get where Demi is coming from.

I found using they/them pronouns surprisingly difficult to get right when you know someone non-binary.

I have a trans parent and although I worried about misgendering them, it was surprisingly easy to switch to she/her because I could see she looked female.

On the other hand, my non-binary cousin who appears female has asked to be called they/them and it’s been surprisingly hard for everyone not to slip up despite being supportive. Their mom confessed to me that using they/them to refer to her child felt like she suddenly had a more distant relationship because “they” is normally used to imply someone you don’t know as well. I never really thought of it that way.

It’s a generational thing but we have to be patient, especially with older people whose minds aren’t as easily receptive. I guess we’re stuck by the limits of our language.

I feel the majority of people that adopt alternative pronouns do so solely for the sake of attention, the case with Demi is blatant of that.

what kind of attention do you think they want?

Ya'll just have a hate boner for her and it doesn't help that everytime she changes her pronouns or do something, it's posted here :madge:
