Something being legal does not necessarily mean that individual settings can't still have dress codes. Shorts and tank tops are also legal in virtually every jurisdiction with the exeption of maybe an extreme Country or two that doesn't mean a fancy high class restaurant with a dress code will let you in dressed like that Heck even if u go to an all inclusive resort where literally the theme is hot weather and beach shorts, there will be dining areas that will not allow it. When I was 22 I was was denied entry to the buffet at the resort (it wasn't even one of the fancier alecarts that are more strict) because tank tops weren't allowed (I wasn't aware, it was my first time on a resort) and I had to go back into my room and change, I wasn't allowed in otherwise Dress codes and basic respect are a thing. That’ll realllllly help smooth the tensions over with conservatives and make them see our community as more nuanced than sex, kink, and nudity. It’s not about bowing down to oppressors. It’s about having some gd self respect and tucking your ti**ies away when you’re given an opportunity to bring trans visibility to the White House.
