It's almost as if this album could've been released beside/instead of Rainbow and High Road, but still interesting to see her return to and cope with the trauma. She talks about it more in the Zane Lowe interview, how High Road felt like she had skipped some processing about her situation. Those that "don't get" this sound or direction may not appreciate more experimental and maturation of artists.
