Maxine Puth 9,053
I’m seeing some ASIB disowning in that other thread Gaga had a hand in both the writing and production throughout the album, and was involved in the creation process from 2016 to 2018 so 3 whole years. Not only that, but it has more solo and collab songs than TFM (7 solo songs, 1 collab). It’s the album with arguably Gaga’s biggest hit too. Let’s put some respect on that soundtrack And not pretend like Gaga didn’t feed us in 2018 with a handful of new songs.
Guest
Are they not just saying it is not a Gaga solo LP?
TheFame Monster 8,949
Agree and it’s her fourth best album (after TFM, BTW, and Chromatica) with some of her best written songs (Shallow, ARUTW, LWIF, Is That Alright?, WDYDT, INLA)

Like I said it’s still a whole body of work with more original solo songs than TFM, so what’s the purpose of diminishing its value to make the wait between Joanne and Chromatica seem longer. It’s crazy that Gaga could’ve released the 8 solo songs with Shallow (so 9 total), threw in a couple of music videos (even from the movie) and people would view it differently. Literally cutting it down to make it bigger lol.
sillynate 6,170
I can see people not counting it because none of it is written by Gaga as Gaga. It’s written by Gaga as Ally

To be completely honest, ASIB is probably one of my favorite, if not my favorite, collection of Gaga work, but I still wouldn't call it a "Gaga" album. It's a soundtack to a movie. The album didn't get the same treatment as one of Gaga's solo work and it's not like she toured it like she did with her other albums. She also wrote the album from the perspective of Ally, which quite literally makes it NOT a "Gaga" album. Future Lovers 7,022
I agree it's a body of work from Gaga absolutely but I don't count it as part of her albums discography. To me, soundtracks and studio albums occupy two different categories. I don't count I'm Breathless as one of Madonna's albums either for this same reason. I especially feel this way when there are songs on there that the primary artist doesn't appear on at all (like ASIB, The Gift, and The Bodyguard). Joshie S 6,193
not yall discounting ASIB... lol.... those words came from Gagas brain. They are Gaga songs. Ya'll are wild. The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥
Modern Ecstasy2 2,202
I don’t see the logic in ASIB not being one of her albums “Delete this thread that person is not Gaga he is a hot blonde twink”
monstertoronto 10,383
There are enough Gaga solo songs to make an album and add the collab songs and it’s more than enough new Gaga songs. She even wrote them (I didn’t look this part up tho so idk) at least most of them. There’s more Gaga songs on ASIB than Whitney songs on Bodyguard, and Bodyguard is officially counted as a Whitney album. And the argument that she was writing as “Ally” discounting its inclusion makes no sense. Artists write from different perspectives all the time. Bowie recorded whole albums in different character POVs, like Aladdin Insane, and no one would deny those are Bowie albums because it wasn’t recorded as Bowie. sillynate 6,170
I gotta say though, I think it’s boring when people only count the solo six (TF, TFM, BTW, AP, J, Ch) because we technically have 10 (a bigger discography is a better discography) if you count all of them (five Lady and five Gaga) Gaga: TF, TFM, BTW, AP, Ch Lady: C2C, J, ASIB, L4S, TGM I only count the solo six when we’re counting the time between them
River 117,775
If we're talking about her contract with Interscope, so it's not a Gaga "by contract" album. But if we're talking about by release dates, so of course it is lol So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

COOOK 76,406
It is clear that they refer to solo albums. Gaga herself referred to Chromatica as "LG6" too so if ASIB counts to you then you're in for a surprise Maxime: LG7 is already out. This all sounds flamebait to me because not only does this discussion belong in that thread, but it completely disregards her jazz albums because they're just as much a different category in her discography as ASIB is
