So no sympathy votes, political votes. It has nothing to with people protesting the entry People use social media. And we've all seen the stuff from the rehearsal. There were many headlines about it. The large protest in front of her hotel already drew media attention. So I don't think people are randomly voting for her because of political views. There's def a sympathy vote element. Also her performance is objectively good, at least vocals-wise. I don't know how much of the vote is just objective appreciation of the performance. Like, they keep throwing excuses to deny the fact that the country is commiting a genocide and people is mad that EBU is allowing them to be a part of the contest because the logical thing would be getting them out. Is nothing against nationality or ethnicity, its about ACTIONS. Of course we will condemne genocide and people who supports it. Did she sing about supporting a "genocide" or make statements to that effect? Because I've watched some of her interviews and didn't hear anything of the sort. I think it's definitely a nationality issue when people start blaming civilians of a country for the actions of their government. I don't see anyone harassing Russians athletes or singers abroad under the pretext of being pro-Ukraine, nor should it be condoned. The simple reality people don't like to accept is that people are doing way too much in this regard, and it's creating a backlash.
