However, celebs were told that Auntie would not pick up the tab for any air travel, meaning it actually cost some of those taking to the stage to cross the ocean to perform. Both Katy Perry and Lionel Richie are believed to have travelled to the UK by private jet

It's the same logic as the Super Bowl, you get paid with exposure as it's a huge event millions/billions watch

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

i'm sure they're rich enough, besides they're the ones who wanted to perform, they could've declined the offer like many others

surprised bbc wouldn't pay for their flights but the lack of fee makes sense. the exposure and (perceived) prestige is a phenomenal payment in its own right. this is totally different than paying indie artists with 'exposure'

I'd like it more if they did get paid bc now I'm just getting "I love the royal monarchy they're amazing we support them" and I don't support them!

Well at least the NFL pays for all expenses related to the show and travel costs, plus they get a “union scale pay” which is about $1,000…

People talking about exposure but this king is heavily disliked and his girl too. I think this prob gave Katy more bad press especially with woke younger fans.

THIS. im 26, live in UK, not a monarchist, disagree with the entire concept but it is what it is at this point. not one to be hateful to any of them, they cant help being born into it, but its disgustingly outdated.

politically, as 'left' as she claims to be, this wasnt a good choice. the extended family itself is problematic ie Prince **drew- whilst the family itself shouldnt pay for problematic family members, i just think she shouldve thought twice before doing this due to relation. the whole 'doing this for free' this doesnt come across as gracious either, conservatives will be like OMG SHES SO WILLING AND SHES OBSESSSED WITH THE ROYALS AND SHE BELIEVES IN THEIR VALUES blah blah blah.

like in my head, the OVERLY pc ppl will now look at her like they do kim petras. working with predators. theyll make those connections, even tho with kim its actually valid. guilty by relation. u know how it is
