what i said had nothing to with Beyonce though, why does it sound like you think my post (which didn't even mention her name) is discrediting her? I'm just saying what seems to be working for Taylor. doesn't mean that other artist who take on their career in a different way are any less succesful . id rather have beyonce or gagas resume than taylor. just saying

I assumed it did bc it’s a Beyoncé thread hahaha and the general convo seems to be about comparing them. I ain’t even dragging you, just conversing to your point to show them both love. I don’t think you’re discrediting her, but just furthering your point to why the two can’t really be compared. They have suuuuch different lives despite sharing incomparable levels of success. Love Beyoncé. I know she’s going to pull amazing numbers regardless but there is no way in hell she is grossing over 2 billion. My date has hundreds of tickets still available, including an extra one of mine that’s been on sale AT FACE VALUE since February.

I have a hard time believing how this is going to be possible. The current highest grossing tour of all time is Elton John's tour and that still has a good few dates to go. It's made over $853 million. So, I don't know how anyone can get anywhere near this amount anytime soon unless they do 333 shows like him. Beyonce has 57 dates. Even with them being stadiums with high ticket prices, how can she possibly get over $2 billion? At most, she could add Oceania and Latin American dates but even then, there's no logical way she can make that amount of money. I mean, Taylor's tour is probably going to outsell her with her 52 US dates alone and she still has to add international dates. I have no doubt they'll be the top two biggest tours of 2023 but neither are going to make $2 billion. What on earth is her PR playing at to say this? I know they've got to make a tour sound high in demand to make people buy tickets but be realistic about it. Aren't they worried about being called out if it doesn't happen?

First of all, pitting women against each other… gross.

As a woman, I can say that society would make you believe we have an issue with this, but we don't. Men get compared and compete against each other constantly and no one says anything about it. People are only comparing Beyonce and Taylor because they're both going to be have the biggest tours of the year, most likely. If one were male or they were both male, we'd be making the exact same comparisons. And isn't it smashing gender stereotypes if women can compete against each other like men do?

I mean, I kinda see Taylor hitting the 1 billion gross. Considering her average prices and attendance. No wonder if she hits it or is close to 1B only from the US leg. I know she’s bringing international dates too

the fact that taylor is more in demand than beyonce as a touring act in todays day and age is absolutely pathetic

beyonce is 10X the live performer that taylor is, taylor can barely sing and cant dance - americas truly lost its taste.....

This isn’t about gender for me, more so people trying to tear one another down when this fanbase is better than that first and foremost. Sure, “pitting women against each other” implied a gender tie to the matter, but generally speaking men wear their success and have pissing matches or are cocky. Beyonce and Taylor support other artists and each other, and being among Gaga stans, we should know better.

But honestly, I do remember a time in which The Weeknd was compared to MJ and people threw a fit as well to be fair.

I went to a Beyoncé concert a few years ago and will never, ever attend one again. Her fans… are different than Gaga fans. But I hope that people who love Beyoncé get to see her live without having to take out a loan or go broke.

I heard it really isn’t that fun. When I saw Gaga, I was vibin with everyone and was having so much fun, with Taylor it was a SHOW and everyone around us was so cool and chill and honestly helpful with everyone else.

I heard going to a bey show feels like you’re just surrounded by clique after clique after clique and the show itself feels “overproduced” (coming from my friend who is a bey stan but vowed not to go see her live again bc it was a bad experience)

she’s a more enjoyable artist, more personable, more interesting, a better songwriter, and has a stronger discography than bey.
taylor can barely sing? She’s singing her a$$ off 3 1/2 hours every night from ballads to pop hits back and forth.

you also don’t need to dance to put on a show. You’re pushing pop girls into a box and that’s exactly what Gaga is against. :huntyga:

but do what every critic did to Gaga to Taylor then. Have fun being bitter

Then why bring up the fact that they're women? My point is that if it's not bad when men are compared, why should be an issue when it's women? It doesn't have to be toxic masculinity for men to compete, nor is it internalised misogyny for a woman to compare women. Women are humans as much as men are at the end of the day and it's human nature to compare. And when it comes to who's pulling in more touring money, people will always have an opinion about who's worth paying for. It doesn't matter if the artists have a friendship or a love for each other's music, that has no relevancy to the public's personal opinion on their talent or musical output, nor should it.

I skipped the eras but I will go to see Beyoncé. I feel like Beyoncé is a better performer to see live.

I pointed out my “pitting women against each other” invoked gender which was not my intent in my previous comment, as well as, a man vs man comparison that was considered to be not fair either. My point is, they both support each other, so comments that are dragging one or the other is not productive in an argument. This isn’t a Selena vs Hailey thread either. GGD, majority speaking, is not intended to be a “dragging” site, but a kindness site. That would be more of a BreathHeavy forum tbh. I digress as I feel this is turning into a feminist discussion when I simply do not see the reasoning for us to drag one over the other without thinking of them as women, they just so happen to both be women in this scenario.
