There's nothing I want more than Kesha's freedom and happiness, so to hear her talk about the album that allowed us to fall in love with her, and how much passion she still has for those songs, makes me hopeful that she doesn't feel like they are tarnished, just because of a man. I'm so proud of her. Why is it a few years off? If she got the standard contract, she'd be allowed to re-record 6 months after parting with her label. 1 hour ago, Dayman said: Will never happen. It's not an issue of ownership of masters, he will ALWAYS make money off those songs because even if rerecorded, released on a new label and new production from the ground up he still has writing credits. So he would make the same money off those as he does off the current versions of the songs. Wouldn't he make a bit less considering he won't get a % for ownership of the masters? And she'd at least own those songs then.

Warrior, Rainbow, High Road and now Gag Order are the ones that are RCA/Kemosabe so unknown how the masters situation most likely is outlined there - but even then Kemosabe is just Lukes division of Sony - so Sony may still just take the over all ownership. From my understanding, re-recording would give her ownership of those new recordings and as such she wouldn't have to split with the label. I think this really just depends on how Luke gets his checks cut and how RCA internally bookkeps. If Luke is getting a % of Kemosabe's income and RCA keeps Animal under Kemosabe on their financial ledgers, he's possibly profiting from it. Either way Kesha could have a chance to own her masters, and if she re-recorded independently she would take home more money.
