TEANUS 12,941
Joanne was honestly a really fun era and she did try like hell to make us like it despite the switch up, like she said in 5F2. However, I do think they fumbled quite a few times and, as with almost every other era, weren’t initially right with what single ended up being the most favored to follow up Perfect Illusion. Perfect Illusion also had an awful launch rollout IMO. TortureMeOnReplay 5,830
Honestly I think Million Reasons should have been the lead. It's more reflective of the overall sound and a great ballad. PI is my favorite song on the album and one of my favorite songs overall, but it sounds nothing like the album and the guitar in the beginning can be off putting to people. Anderson123 36,031
I honestly wouldn't change anything about Joanne. It seems like the album she needed to make at that time in her life. Perfect Illusion was the right choice as a lead single because anything else would've made the fans flip. I mean it was a grower but still, it was lead single material. They should've just followed that with Million Reasons or Joanne, not try to do something with A-Yo but other than that I think it went pretty smooth and overall one of her better planned rollouts that ended with the Superbowl as the cherry on top. Obviously not a huge promo plan like Born This Way or the ambition ARTPOP had but like I said, it was pretty much what she wanted to do at that time, no pressure and no draining.
