He had criticized and said he was fed up of the Me Too movement, saying as far as that people shouldn't be models if they don't want their pants pulled down and join nunnery instead.

What the hell have you done with your lives?

I can tell you what I haven't done :gayhat:

I haven't hated refugees, the LGBT community, and I haven't told victims of SA that they should shut up and expect to be assaulted just 'cause of the profession they chose :gayhat:

I don't care what he's done for fashion, any celebrity that does attend this year's gala will lose respect from me :nails:

Karl was so much more than those things he said later in life... He liked to trigger controversy and I'm pretty sure he said most of these things because he enjoyed pissing people off. He once said women wearing leggings had given up on life... and then proceeded to design leggings.

As per the people that actually knew him personally, he was a caring, intelligent, fascinating human being. The word genius is sometimes thrown around lightly, but not in his case. The void he left behind is enormous and he is missed very deeply.

I'm also not looking to get into any fights, but I'll still say: shame on some of you for the words you're employing. What the hell have you done with your lives? It's your right to disagree with things Karl said, but it's another to completely disrespect the memory of someone that has accomplished so much. None of you are perfect either, and I really hope that one day you'll mean to someone what Karl meant to many people.

hope he sees this

mother, what must i do?

I think you might not have gone deep in who Karl Lagerfeld is.
Also, most of you see him from an American perspective. Don't forget he is german and was based in France where we allow ourself a lot more irony and cancel culture is less present.

He said Adele was beautiful but a little too fat from a designer point of view (he also apologized for this). Don't forget he is the one who made Chanel revive and unfortunately those tweed suits don't allow much shape historically.

Getting upset about people not having kind things to say about the man as a human being is weird. It is indeed possible to recognize that someone contributed iconic, influential, quality things to the world while also acknowledging they were scumbags as people.

Its very deminishing to subtract a whole persons legacy for just those things. Yeah he was controversial alright but I’ve watched a few documentaries that shed a very different light on his personality.
I don’t really enjoy his fashion, not to stir old quarrels but he just can’t compare to the genius of saint Laurent. He did indeed had a long career and blossomed at the end. Was influential etc.

Blake lively tho, I’m pretty sure she was a bit of a muse for him. Even if she’s already a plus size model for him. Imagine living in that world. But that was the world of fashion, it’s not an offense. Ofc he’d be one of the responsibles for such standards

Okay. From a German perspective: he was a c*nt.

Not a fan of his for reasons outlined above. I just always think of Margaret Cho’s bit saying, “Karl Lagerfeld is a murder” around animal rights activists. I agree, he is if using animals for fashion. :patrizia:
