Frank Ocean will reportedly receive $4M for his Coachella performance

Frank Ocean was to be paid $4 million for each of his two Coachella performances, for a total of $8 million, sources say. Since Ocean is not performing for the second weekend, he will only be paid for the first weekend’s performance.
Goldenvoice(festival promoter), however, will still need to pay Blink-182 that same $4 million rate for their replacement one-hour headlining set on Sunday, sources say, and will also need to pay the newly announced Skrillex, Four Tet and Fred again.. combo for their closing set.

Typically, festival promoters pay an artist a performance rate and also cover basic production needs. In Ocean’s case the most expensive part of his production — the custom ice pad — was built by Goldenvoice and came with significant energy costs. So, while Goldenvoice had planned to recoup that cost from his performance fees, sources say the production costs Frank racked up exceed the $4 million he earned for the first weekend. That means Frank Ocean failed to turn a profit from his Coachella appearance and that the festival will have to eat the remaining loss — for which it is highly unlikely to demand repayment.

Ocean also racked up about $45,000 in curfew fines during his set, which played 25 minutes past the mandatory midnight curfew imposed by city officials. However, a source close to Frank Ocean says those fines are Goldenvoice’s fault, claiming Ocean’s set started an hour late because festival staff took an additional 50 minutes to change over the stage from Bjork’s set to Ocean’s set.

They way they try to blame it to Coachella when it was their artist who got the hissy fit asking for those demands or else he won't go on stage last week, which causing the lateness and more :green:

Ya, he's being a diva about it. :billie:

At first, he demanded a stage with ice skate rink, with ice skaters on it. Coachella agreed to it, and had the stage built specifically to his request out if their pockets, and had skaters rehearsed for weeks. Then 1 hour before his performance last week, he changes his minds. He don't want the skate rink on stage anymore, and demanded for it to be removed, or he won't show up, with that he also demanded for no live stream on his set last week. The skaters who were already stand by had to cancelled their performance, all those rehearsal for nothing. The stage builders are not happy cos their efforts building it up was for nothing. The show was delayed hy 1.5 hours or so because of it. Fans who showed up were unhappy. And when he was on stage, he barely sing, he lip synched some songs, and most times sat down on stage in silence. And of course his set need to be cut down because of the lateness and curfew. Fans then were furious and making it known on all corners of internet. Then couple days ago, he decided to pull out. That is the compressed version of the drama. It is a total mess :alsemanche:

And this is confirmed for credible sources? As in not just online gossip

That's rediculous. The entitlement :toofunny:

Artists that go to this extreme also dig themselves a grave over time because maybe without realizing, they are slowly burning bridges with important ppl and organizations in the industry.

Guaranteed Coachella will never ask him to headline again now...

Edit: And Mariah Carey has been dethroned as diva Queen :enigma:

Daenerys

Based on what I read in the OP he might not even be getting the 4m, so his little fit he threw cost him a good chunk of change

Also change over bjork’s set? Bitch please 1) that’s how festivals work so get over yourself and 2) her show was an orchestra and microphone. If it had been any other artist he might have skated by on this excuse but her whole thing was barebones af
