I am far from being an expert but I think it has something to do with how frequently the tracks are shared from person to person while being made. Artists who record at multiple studios seem to have more leaks, whereas artists with only one or two studios seem to have less (thinking of Taylor and Billie). Maybe in sending songs back and forth and storage in multiple locations does it. But I could be wrong.

ohh no i agree this sounds very reasonable. i didn’t consider it getting sent around like that

Tbh, they are old demos. Pap them onto the streaming services and let your fans enjoy them. I mean you haven’t released an album since 2019

Late 2020, with a deluxe in early 2021

how does stuff leak in 2023? like are there not security measures

There are. But recently a lot of sellers have had her unreleased music. And our fandom started doing group buys for some unreleased songs. Others leak by accident from other exchanges or just get leaked for no reason.

A lot of songs leaked. If you got on her wiki (Unreleased songs) page, you will see them all.

I thought most of Ariana's leaked tracks were scraps from old albums or songs other artists ended up recording?

I don't see anything wrong in those leaking because they're never going to be released anyway.

If it was potential songs from a new album then that's not okay.

I'm Blue's success has proven that a leak doesn't mean the song can never be finished and released. Imagine if Bebe and Guetta felt that way.. they now have their biggest hit in 10 years.
