Tbh if the new D&D movie has a good run and other companies show interest in similar projects, I think there's a chance Disney might at least think about it.

I hated live action remakes before, but I can somewhat understand trying to adapt old films for a modern audience (although I would argue that the old animations are timeless). 

This one is just not warranted at all. Moana is still a stunning film by modern standards. Adapting it seems like an excuse to milk an already popular story. And just like the other remakes did, it will probably drain all of the animated charm out of the original.

I'm getting so sick of these massive projects where money is the obvious motivator. Even a half-hearted sequel would be less creatively bankrupt than this.

it’s in the works. they are adapting it both the film and the original book; so let them take their time and give us the dark themed film we deserve with the music from mr alan menkin! 

as for this, i have a suspicion that this was Dwayne pushing for a live action and not necessarily something disney wanted to do initially… i mean why not have both him and Auli’l make the announcement together?
