They’re also saying that we should enjoy the AI technology that we have so far to better understand it before we keep working on it.
RahrahWitch 6,985
AI can be used as a great tool to help humanity but sadly It seems like we're going the opposite direction in the pursuit of profit. The people developing and pushing this aren't acknowledging the legal and ethical concerns. Just look at AI generated Art, current models built on billions of stolen images with the goal to replace artists. That's dystopian as ****.
River 127,752
Elon is just pissed that he didn't do it first and now he's kinda too late to join the game So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
berlinforme 5,385
As I have understood it their main concern is that the development is too fast in the sense of multiple companies having a race for the biggest/best/most universally usable AI and that in such an environment there isn't enough time spent on actual research. Which is a valid concern. An AI fed with bad information could easily turn misanthropic. Nonetheless I don't expect anyone to stop now.

holy scheisse 22,959
i agree. deep fakes and unreality is going to be so sophisticated so quickly. misinformation is going to grow even worse. its also so strange i am a therapist and have a handful of clients who share that they're already going to chatgpt to help them navigate communication and sending emails etc and maybe thats helpful in building insight into communicating better but... its kinda alarming that a computer is telling them what to say to people lol

Fuffy 1,049
It's crazy how fast the future just became the present. AI is definitely one of those things that are fun to imagine in 50 years time but implementing it in reality is crazy. I'm at a pretty high risk of my job becoming obsolete with AI in the next few years, or at least super competitive as it'll only take one person to "manage" AI tech for a particular role rather than a whole team. I'm quite nervous but keeping my cool and trying to integrate AI in my job. It's gonna be a ride to see how we transition to a post AI-revolution economy. I think we'll reach UBI at some point but it'll take a lot of pushback and public discontent, especially when unemployment starts to climb rapidly. I'm curious if trade careers like plumbing, hair/beauty, and construction will become better paid and if that causes costs for their services to climb as well. Though I suspect AI and robotics will start to solve those problems. It's the new industrial revolution for sure!
