I loved the animated movie as a child partly because of how vibrant and fantastical it was, so for sure the live action seems relatively dull. And anyway, I agree with people complaining about how much darker movies have become in general, I have already terrible eyesight so it always bugs me. That being said, I doubt most "dislikers" went with all that nitpicking lol the casting is obviously guaranteed to piss off a certain demographic iykwim. Disney is still a bastion of corporate conservatism though, and a black actress doesn't really change that, which overall sucks because Halle Bailey is amazing and I will support the movie even if just to support her.

pls remember these extensions are not accurate at all, there's no way to see a video's dislikes unless you're the uploader

I guess it doesn't really matter

Nah, they are very accurate. The dislike count is still there, it’s just hidden and all the extension does is pull it up from the code. I just checked the likes/dislikes on gagadaily’s videos with an extention and from YouTube creator studio and they are identical.

The blatant racism is disgusting. I hope the movie does well.

hmm, i've seen other people show their dislike count on their videos from the youtube studio site and compared the numbers to the ones the extensions show and they seemed to be off, it could also depend what extension is used

anyways, back on topic, i'm really excited for this film and i will be seated opening week for this. i can't believe we're in 2023 and grown adults are having a meltdown over a black little mermaid, meanwhile majority of kids watching this movie could not care less and will enjoy this. i hope this movie will reach $1 billion in the box office though, and hope this will make a breakout star out of Halle and is just the beginning of a successful movie career for her.

I guess it doesn't really matter

I find it interesting when people feel the need to go out their way to express they dislike something,

Unless they are specifically asked or its something infuriating that goes against ones values (although for racists this is literally the reason why they disliked it) I think its fine but otherwise its just feels silly to me, many of you might have disliked this for different reasons but the end of the day it all falls into the same group of people who also did it because they are racists.

It reminds me of the South Park episode when people vote against gay marriage but then they reconsider this choice because the KKK starts to support the voters and they realise their point of view shouldn't limit other humans rights.

I am not saying this should be liked even if you don't like it tho. I just think even if the trailer is boring the other aspects of it outweigh it. Its something people could consider, even if you don't like these kind of movies I think acknowledging representation is really important. Disney's old cartoons used to be really racist. Bare this in mind.

I think social media can be a lot especially with trying to be correct but sometimes its necessary because people don't think outside of this racist train of thought, lack of involvement is allowing this darkness to grow and take over peoples minds because no one is questioning the behaviour

Knowing the project is already facing intense dislike from a bad crowd, I would have just accepted my indifference and moved on rather than embolden that crowd, but work

For me there’s way too many blue And gray tones going on

too serious, borderline boring

shes is beautiful as her voice, and there’s the dreamy atmosphere, could be up a notch. And vocals are nasal

I “liked” it before even watching the whole thing cause I knew it was gonna get a massive amount of hate lol I legit never dislike a video on YT unless there’s racist/homophobic/transphobic shít in it. Otherwise I just move on with my day lol

I put that I don't like the trailer because it doesn't add anything new, it's not a good trailer. Besides, I didn't like what I saw of Halle's performance. It is very little to judge an entire movie, but I saw her very stiff. His voice is from another world!! I hope I'm wrong.

I really disliked what they say in the comments section, how they criticized her for the separation of her eyes and other things that have to do with her image and person. If I read those comments, it would hurt my mind and self-esteem a lot.

I think the movie will do very well in the boxoffice. Despite the hate

To be honest I felt like Disney is acting like a total white saviour rather than accurately representing with authentic material.

It would be great if they made this movie with a brand new character in the Mermaid universe and an entirely different storyline. Pixar is doing all the hard work with original stories for Disney.

But more importantly, I hope it's not as dark and murky as it looks. Disney nailed the Jungle Book so well, but these live action films are clearly becoming cash grabs without the creative spark.

Hopefully however this movie turns out, it gives *Halle acting career a boost though.

Not shocked, I've seen a lot more negative comments than positive about this film.

On a personal note, I will not pay money for a company like Disney who donates to Anti-Gay politicians ($300,00 for Dont Say Gay) and the oppressive government in China.

While I’m not exactly excited for the movie (the live actions aren’t my style of movie!), I really hope Halley is okay and not paying attention to assh*les. She looks and sounds lovely.
