This article is fairly speculative, but it is notable coming from a source like Variety as they were the pub to break the news on the other performances.

All four of this year’s original song Oscar nominees have been confirmed to perform at the ceremony on March 12 — except for Lady Gaga.

Gaga, who was deemed a frontrunner early in the race, landed her fourth career nomination for the “Top Gun: Maverick” song “Hold My Hand,” but has yet to be confirmed for the show.

In Oscars tradition, all nominated songs are sung during the ceremony. Rihanna (“Lift Me Up”), Sofia Carson and Diane Warren (“Applause”), Stephanie Hsu, David Byrne and Son Lux (“This Is a Life”) and Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava (“Naatu Naatu”) will all be making appearances this year.

Right now, Gaga is in the midst of filming “Joker: Folie à Deux.” Director Todd Phillips shared the first image of the star as Harley Quinn on Valentine’s Day opposite “Joker” actor Joaquin Phoenix. It’s possible that filming logistics are keeping her from announcing anything.

Gaga is reportedly playing her version of the DC Comics character as a psychiatrist who finds herself smitten with the Joker before taking on his villainous ways. Warner Bros. will release the film in theaters Oct. 9, 2024 — five years to the day after the release of the first film.

Elsewhere, the multi-hyphenate recently dropped a new video, titled “Dom Pérignon x Lady Gaga: The labor of creation,” last week for Dom Pérignon, directed by Woodkid with choreography from Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

Should she not, it won’t be the first time an original song has not been performed at the ceremony. In recent years, Van Morrison, SZA, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem didn’t belt out their Oscar-nominated tunes. For now, the internet will have to wait with bated breath and continue manifesting on social media.

i tend to agree, but it's weird it hasn't been confirmed yet? that academy head or whatever said they were planning to have her perform and surely if she was gonna say no bc of joker conflicts they would've said no by then?? i feel like the longer they drag this on the more of A Thing it'll be when she's confirmed to not be performing/going

The academy isn’t gonna issue a statement saying Gaga won’t perform tho 

 

op: anyway I hope she doesn’t perform and/or attend, the Oscar is already lost and she doesn’t need to show up until 2025 to grab the best actress statue

idc if she's not going to win...it's not always about winning! a nomination is still great.

It would just be amazing to see her perform on television again since her last live televised performance was literally THREE years ago. I'll take anything I can get at this point and Gaga always serves amazing Oscars performances so like why wouldn't you tune in? Plus hold my hand sound epic live and it's such an anthemic song...I just know the audience would be shook!!!

this. i don’t want her to win but her oscar performances are so incredible and i thought it would’ve been a nice boost to the song’s legacy so to speak

Let’s be real, she was gonna attend only if she knew the odds were somewhat in her favor even if not secured. I still think she has a chance at winning but who knows

her a$$ wouldn't miss the opportunity to perform, especially on that stage, if there weren't a good reason; she shut that sh*t down with TIHTY and yet she did not win...

i think people are/were just excited to see her perform! nothing wrong with that. i know i personally have been looking forward to this since TCB ended as the next time we would be fed / even get to see her really. if she’s decided she can’t make it work, then we all support that!! that doesn’t mean people won’t be sad we won’t be getting an oscar gown serve on sunday

I was looking forward to it as well! It's okay to express disappointment, but saying that she's skipping just because she is not winning is wrong when there's a good reason... like she's a diva or something!?
