I think it's perfectly possible to not love/not want to release a song you've written. Gaga's comments about the song make me feel like she wanted to sit down with Cher and write a song with her in the studio that she thought would be better than Greatest Thing (this is coming from someone who really enjoys the song, so I'm not projecting or anything lol).
