That's the Melanie I fell in love with, and even she herself doesn't like her now Idk I lovvvvvve Portals, but I'm really afraid she's going to start losing me soon I hope I still love her next era too.. but we'll deal with that in 8 years when it comes And I love her commitment to making this character come alive, it's actually really fun and such performance art, but I really do miss her face and her voice and her over-the-top expressions when she performs and her the light and darkness she brought to her work. I think she's just trying to expand and grow and will be at peace with being associated with older projects like Cry Baby in due time. I remember back in like 2015/16 she hated being known as "the girl from The Voice" and would always speak out against it. I think it's just another one of those situations. Her old musics production (especially crybaby) feels kinda dated now and gimmicky imo. Gaga still performs songs from The Fame 15 years and 7 albums later Idk I get weird feelings about the way Melanie seems to be constantly shutting her past out, and also the line "I hate who I was before"... girl what happened she got rid of her vintage toy collection, moved house, became super spiritual, constantly says that she doesn't want to think about/be known for her early career, and I have weird vibes that she's moved on from her old friends... Remember, she had this kind of phase back when she released Cry Baby and everyone only knew her as "the girl from The Voice" so she hated it. I think it's just that again but wanting to be known for more than what she put out nearly a decade ago lol (to be fair she was like 19, not sure most people want to be known for themselves at 19-21) ...Worst case scenario she's just super traumatized from the *incident* and is looking to separate herself from it entirely by cutting out her old aesthetic/sound/etc. 7 hours ago, Joshie S said: What does everyone think of the PORTALS Tour?? I compleeeetely understand how that's a bummer for some fans and they may not want to see her live anymore. I can't help but think back to Amy Winehouse, and how some of her struggles were that she didn't want to play old music anymore because it really put her through such an emotional battle going back to dark places, when she was clearly trying to move on from her past. Gaga I think also must have these feelings when singing songs that were made by her abuser, however with Gaga I think she sees the triumph in singing the songs she made and that she poured her heart into.
