not a down slide. just sort of a plateau.  i actually think she’s been on the cusp of this for years it just took the perfect song and moment to push it over the edge.

I mean its basically because of the song being about her famous breakup. And the situation overall that he cheated on her etc. It’s a strong female anthem about empowerment. I guess the song is catchy, it actually is catchy, even tho its sampled from Brunos song

i agree. i do think the bruno mars aspect and the breakup helped for sure. but once she got them to listen they didn’t stop

I think its also because of her MASSIVE touring efforts the last few years. No artist has done touring like her before in the leadup to a release. She was everywhere around the world connecting with people in person.

Yeah, there's a few reasons why it hit so hard, so fast. You lay a few of them out nicely. The funny thing is I've loved her last two eras more than her peak Bangerz era. I became a fan when she was failing with the GP. Flowers isn't my favorite song of hers at all. But a hit is a hit. Maybe it'll expose her lesser known songs to the GP now.

I don’t think anyone can just say “no”. Comebacks are often unexpected. NRO deserved more but maybe it wasn’t the right narrative for her as a celebrity at the time to hit, it isn’t always about the music. She’s still in the public eye in successful high profile TV gigs and doing Vegas. She’s got an audience and is still recording. She’s always got a shot. 
 

but it is insane that Miley is currently #2 in the world on Spotify just after The Weeknd. Who’s #3?
