I'm still confused about the non password share thing because I use my mum's account and it's still fine? I like to have unsolved mysteries playing when I'm trying to sleep so I need it :laughga:

I've been sharing with my workmate for a couple of years. But considering I only watch an average of like 5 episodes a month, there is no way I can justify paying full price just for an account to myself. So I'm just going to have to stop using their service entirely.

I live with my dad and he wouldn't use it, so there's noone in my household to split it with. Whereas larger families or people with roommates/flatmates can afford it just because they live with more people... Makes no sense

Guess I'm torrenting Wednesday season 2 :huntyga:

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Who’s cancelling? Because the majority that are paying aren’t the ones needing the password. I’m not going to cancel my subscription that I use regularly just because a friend or a sibling can no longer use my account. And who is splitting a $15-$20/month bill 3-5 ways anyway? We weren’t able to share cable tv with other households back in the day, why would this be any different. They need money to create quality content people. And maybe if everyone paid for their own subscription, they might even be able to drop the price.

They spent $17BILLION on content last year, and $5billion of that was on original content. They were doing just fine. It's about corporate greed, not poor Netflix having to pinch pennies. They rack up billions upon billions of dollars every year. An insane amount of money.

Also we are in a global financial crisis, $5 a week is a lot to spend for some people, especially those who are only casual watchers. And considering old school TV is dying and we need to subscribe to about 3 different streaming services to access the popular shows of the moment, it starts to add up

So earning 31k millions in a year isnt enough for them to create quality content? Damn.

Also they're constantly cancelling shows so I don't think they have many original content.

And the market is becoming more and more competitive. They need all the money they can get to hire big stars and produce big budget content. Low income families should be spending their money on necessities and food. There are plenty of free apps and channels available. I grew up poor and we never had cable. We watched what was free. Just because you can’t afford it doesn’t mean they’re greedy and should make it cheaper. There’s literally a $6 option if you really need to have Netflix. Just my opinion.

If they want to stay #1, they need big name actors, big budget films/series, and big tech.

Why are you licking the boots of the ultra-rich corporations?

Lol I’m licking their boots because I think their product is well worth $20 a month and people should have to pay for it? Okay…. Haha

That’s like me paying for one to eat at a buffet but then loading up plate after plate to feed the 4 people I brought with me but didn’t pay for.

I'm gonna stay because I'm fortunate enough to be able to. If that changes, I'll just do what I'm shocked more people don't do and that's reignite the account for a month, watch the new show I want to see when it drops, then cancel until their next show drops. There's plenty of other services to watch legacy (as in non-netflix original) content on so there's not much of a need for it beyond their originals.

Overall though, I do see this whole conversation had across social spaces as a bit...cringey. It's one thing to be upset with Netflix for these price increases and difficulties if you're struggling financially, but it's another to be paying for all these other services that amount to in total more than Netflix charges and still marching against them. It just seems in that case like a need to be mad about something and instead of something consequentially important, this is what a ton of people have latched onto.

Mines been cancelled for like a year now. Their price hike yet lack of good shows/movies turned me away.

Don’t play with me, it just hurts me.
