Swine is about rape. That’s why she used vomit for this performance. Because of how sick it made her when she was taken advantage of when she was 19. So no she didn’t just have a “fetish for vomit”

Well there we go then :icega:

I just sometimes think she was pushed to do these things to promote the album and her mental health struggled because of it.

I'm almost convinced it's a disease at this point.

Honestly, I want to understand the psychology of it, like scientifically, how does one become this stupid. I see some horrible takes from some conservatives. Look at this guy for example. He wants to bring back public corporal punishment? Beating people until they bleed. Like what the **** is wrong with them?

Years ago, I would have been so angry at people for not understanding the intention behind the art. Now, I find it so thrilling lol

Instead of helping the audience imagine the feelings themselves, she elicits the feelings for them by disturbing and disgusting the audience intentionally. This performance doesn't allow you to not feel what she wants to convey, and it's one of the reasons i love gaga so much :kara:

Performances like that remind me of why I love ARTPOP the most out of her eras. The raw pain and uncensored nature of her visuals were so chaotic, majestic, powerful, and scary. I don’t think she should ever put herself in a situation to be in that level of pain again, but she took that pain, said “f*ck it” and essentially bled on a canvas… the art of it is inspiring to me.

You think her label asked her to have someone puke on her in a song about rape? One of the biggest record labels in the world... with a lot riding on her success... that went behind her back to make her music more palatable? You think they made her do this? You don't have to create crazy theories to explain away things she's done that you don't agree with. It's healthy to not agree with everything someone does.

Imagining Gaga doing this nowadays is so funny to me

like imagine she releases ACT II this year, and has a performance where someone shits on her tits on stage :air:

love a scat queen :air:

It's not far off from how it originally happened. She did this around the time she recorded C2C and released it later that year

This is exactly the reactions Gaga expected/wanted. It is supposed to be a disgusting, immoral performance. To show the audience what she felt, and her rage, focused around rape. Don't be mad at those people for being disgusted, they are just feeding Gaga's art this way, in a very good way.

Yikes it’s getting spread quite a bit and people think it’s new. Undoing the goodwill she’s been building over the years I fear :cryga:

My logic is that post-ARTPOP she expressed a lot of distress about having to put on these performances and that it was a dark time. Joanne was really what she wanted to do and Till It Happens to You was a lot more cathartic and more true to herself.

I 100% agree with you that the label wanted to make ARTPOPs music chart-friendly but I think they likely wanted her to capitalize on the "Gaga" side still. So the vomit would have been a stunt to grab headlines to promote ARTPOP.

It's probably just me that sees it that way. My sister got very sick from bulimia (cardiac arrest and stuff) at the time this aired so that's probably why I have a distaste for vomit as performance. I felt like the song was great and carried the rape/trauma without the performance which felt forced.

I still love ARTPOP and it's my favourite Gaga album. I just think over time we've seen Gaga step away from shock impact and more into subtle artistry, which I enjoy.

I love that performance Im not gonna lie. It’s disturbing and art is supposed to evoke all sorts of emotions. Clearly she was channeling lots of darkness and pain with that idea.
