I interpreted it as he didn't wake up until AFTER the voyage began and he was already secured in the cargo hold for the 6 days (which makes sense that noone could hear him). If people were actively hooking up the lift lines onto the container like 4 feet away from him (albeit through the wall of the container) I find it weird that an entire team of people couldn't hear him screaming and banging (so I assumed this is when he was asleep). Like I feel you'd wake up sometime during the rigging process which isn't exactly quiet lol
