the "additional" disturbing, she literally calls the photos creepy.

I think it's a little weird but I also think it's art. Why are there statues of naked children in museums?

for the first, it’s an actual art piece called “the tub” from 2003. not saying it’s good art or anything.

the second set is weird but i’m not getting epstein vibes.

Casual reminder that the conspiracy theory that Hollywood is some kind of "pedophile ring" that involves the ritual sacrifice of children is based in an anti-Semitic text called, "Protocols of the Elders of Zion," which inspired the Nazis to create the blood libel/Jewish global cabal conspiracy theory that was used to justify the Holocaust.

Yes, it's art. I dislike the first one a lot, but it's artwork and not at all sexualized (though I do find it disturbing for other reasons). It's by a very famous photographer, too.

That said, she's a complete dumbass for posting this knowing all the right wing panic going on right now and how they specifically target Hollywood.

Yup. Also, that first piece is a Schneider...the lady won a Guggenheim fellowship FFS. I can't believe people are trying to make it into a pedo thing (I hate the photograph tho, tbh).

The actual art is a child playing in a bucket of water not stuffed into a suitcase. Personally I do find it a bit weird but It's not like the tweet is suggesting.

Yeah, conservatives love to hop on art that makes people uncomfortable and say it's "satanic" or "pedophilic."

I don't blame people for finding the photo of the child weird. There have been far too many instances of children being exploiting by adults during seemingly innocent projects.

Stew Peters (born April 1, 1980) is an American right-wing to far-right  media personality and bounty hunter. He is known for promoting COVID-19 misinformation and conspiracy theories.

From his wiki page.

So let's not take what a uncultural republican baboon has to say about art.

I know that child trafficking and abuse is a real and horrifying problem. The art hanging there is distasteful and I am not aware of what context it holds on the surface.

Art isn’t as straight forward as “this is a child” (usually), and could easily represent something much more complex. Using my imagination, I could interpret this art as being “an expression of growing up. Putting my childhood in a suitcase for the long journey ahead…” etc etc.

That said, we cannot allow the right wing to continue to use “But the children!” as a tool to distract, confuse, cause fear, spread misinformation, spread hate, spread homophobia, and distract.

They would rather us talk about a photo on the wall of a celebrity than the real issues impacting everyday people, such as actual human rights.
