LateToCult 40,896
Perfect Illusion’s instrumentals are heavenly but the way her voice sounds throughout the record is just a damn shame.

Jack3257 743
I think SL is the weakest lead. I think Alice would have been perfect if it had a second verse. If not, Replay or even ROM. PI is probably the logical candidate for a lead on Joanne. However, I think Joanne is an interesting situation where the lead would not be the most successful single. Regardless, Million Reasons was poised for success but would not be the lead in any universe.
AntonTurnItUp 7,088
Perfect Illusion is a great comeback but you let it flop because it wasn't that generic dance-tropical-pop that was trending in 2016. I think Stupid Love is her weakest, starting with 'that' video; the concept was amazing but the execution was a completely mess (#ShotOniPhone ) and that terrible purple outfit . But yes, comparing SL with other songs of Chromatica it feels like an ugly bonus track, sorry, anyways it's still on my pre-covid-19 playlist

Wet Fire 7,452
Stupid Love. A Lady Gaga lead single without an actual chorus whereas she's known for writing solid choruses

Otherwise that song was in the toilet bowl. I don't think so. They were pushing A-Yo to become a single (she performed it a few times, released cover art for it and even tweeted it to the Chainsmokers) but Million Reasons was far more popular, hence they made that song the next single. I remember it also being played quite often on the radio. Playing MR at the Super Bowl over PI was a good decision.
berlinforme 5,300
I voted for PI, though Stupid Love also makes sense. I love both songs but to me they're both not really lead single material and I feel they failed to hype up the album. Also both their videos are nice but not really anything more. Dancerinthedark95 328
imagine if Chromatica II + 911 was a lead for Chromatica a smash
thatfoxyfeeling 13,006
Perfect Illusion was a step in the right direction for Gaga at the time. She needed to change her image and strip it back, Stupid Love without a doubt is her worst lead single. The lyrics and production make me cringe for whatever reason, I remember being underwhelmed when it leaked over a month before its official release and feeling like “Is that it?” It’s actually one of the very few Gaga songs I dislike, I skip it every time. They def messed up making it the lead, just isn’t an interesting song compared to the rest on Chromatica.
thisguyN 616
It’s definitey Stupid Love, especially considering the majority of the album was filled with lead-worthy songs. I understand Perfect Illusion is not everybody’s cup of tea, and therefore people vote for it. But there’s no denying it is a very strong, high quality song, which we can’t really say the same unanimously for Stupid Love.
Arcanum 5,155
I've always felt that Stupid Love was a revamp of DWUW. But I do remember feeling extremely pumped with the trailer of Perfect Illusion which had an infinite loop of her whipping her hair around and the intro guitar playing in the background. We got used to lead material like JD, BTW and BR so anything would feel like less, but I went with Stupid Love. Felt like there's nothing new on the table. I Wantth your Love...I Wantth your Love. n1kos 5,119
Stupid love! Her worst lead and one of her worst songs ever! Perfect illusion is a masterpiece! I will fly on a challenger across the sky like a phoenix..
Nite 5,567
I like PI, but it didn't really work as a lead single for Joanne for me. The only song my straight friend knew from Joanne was Diamond Heart for some reason
