Is this fan-base different now?

I think a majority of us grew with Gaga. As she matured I felt we did too as a fan-base. In a way I think she guided us to grow because she wasn’t trying to top herself or repeat any success. I’m always thankful that Gaga is one of those artists that isn’t afraid to do new things. She’s not trying to prove anything or hold onto the past. And because of that I feel that as a fan, I was able to evolve my appreciation for Gaga as her work also evolved.

I think so! But I think it’s natural for many reasons, some things better than others. The owner of this site, and the mods, you’ve kept things going for so long, kudos!!!!

1. Gaga has a strong fan base that are aging with her, so many have aged out of forums (god why is my dusty ass still here). The ones that have stayed aren’t as interested

2. Gaga Daily is one of the remaining  forums for pop fans, so a lot of super fans from other bases are here. This is good because it helps the site not be an echo chamber, but it also creates a bit of a catty place.

3. Gaga culled a LOT of messy people post ARTPOP who only really liked her because she was on top. As soon as she had a crack in her image people fled. The ones that stayed are a lot less interested in success, and success only.

4. Gaga has had a fruitful career, from 2009-2012 there was nowhere to go but up, and it was such an exciting RUSH!! Every time you logged in there was action

5. Things have changed externally, and the landscape to become successful is much different. Gaga isn’t in a position in her career to have to navigate those changes. Tik-Tok, Spotify numbers, micro-trends aren’t something she has to participate in. Whereas in 2009-2016, hot 100, radio, TV, were the bread and butter of success.

6. Gaga has gained many new fans over the last 7 odd years, and it is still continuing. Gaga has diversified her artistic endeavours and reasons to be a little monster is different. Some prefer JazzGa, some prefer actressGa, etc. The crowd is just more diversified.

I don’t know how to explain it, but the energy in this fan-base feels different compared to 2011-2013. What do y’all think?

maybe because gaga barely interacts with us anymore as she was in 2011-2013

Well after the Great Exodus of GGD things definitely changed. Can’t remember what year it was but it was a while ago. We used to have new threads every minute. Now there’s times I come online in the afternoon and still see the same thread from 10 hours earlier in the New Threads section. But regardless of the passage of time, I and a few others will always be here as we have been for nearly a decade, even after the ‘icons’ of GGD leave or get banned.

I am actually kind of sad some of the people got banned. Over dumb ****. This site used to be HYPED AS ****. Probably one of the original stan sites. I mean...GGD basically allowed for the whole "YAAAAAS" thing to become part of pop culture. Most mid-2010s-early 2020s slang started on this cult site. People don't even remember how influential GGD was at one point...starting gay slang in the early 2010s that the straights would later appropriate for t-shirts and mugs. ugh.

Honestly I blame GGD for Stupid Love not going #1 lol. We would have had the numbers and force. We used to have enough people here to cancel an artist if we didn't like them. Remember when The Chainsmokers talked smack and we basically ended them in like 1 month?

We used to make promo singles Top 10 honey because you could start a thread telling monsters to go buy a single and like 200,000 people would instantly see it. Then GGD had to go and get all PC. Now you are lucky if 500 people see your thread. They really wiped out alot of the diversity here.

And like...who even elected them? Lowkey the administrators of GGD now are basically 10 people who elected themselves in 2013 and have a really shady and shitty idea of what diversity and building an audience is. Kind of out of touch to be honest. I complained about someone saying abusive language to me last week and they gave me warning points because the way I stood up for myself wasn't "nice". They literally punished the victim.

Things are different than how everything was before but I can't imagine people are going to abandon this site any time soon. I feel like GGD will always be here and i'll always check this site. To be honest, it's been a while since the Chromatica era so we're kinda in a quiet time. There's still so many people here even though Gaga is being quiet.
