It was truly underwhelming and went from bad to worse as the performance progressed. So many ideas and songs crammed into one performance. I think that criticism like this is missing the point, This is how gaga wanted to pay tribute to an incredible man, with a career spanning over 6 decades. I don't blame her for wanting to hit a lot of points, nor do I think it was either underwhelming or overwhelming. the projection makeup, the dancing keyboard, all of it was flawless, and Nile Rodgers, who worked with Bowie, did the show. and that says more to me than his son just trying to be an asshole, I think the real issue with him is he didn't like gaga and wished someone else did the tribute, it had nothing to do with the actual performance. The band that played with Bowie (The Spiders from Mars) was also invited and they hated the concept and declined the invitation. That says more to me than what Gaga fans think and trying to be assholes to Bowie's son because he didn't like the performance.

So still I rest my case. in the case of the band it's probably the same thing, remember gaga wasn't as loved back then as she is now. just closed minded people that thought she was just that rah rah bitch. all im saying is who the hell cares. and you are a gaga fan. other wise you wouldn't be here gorgeous KDE|801artistry

She did a good tribute, It was no Lorde but it was good. Not to mention my mom (biggest Bowie fan tho could ever imagine) cried and loved it. So idk. I know many people loved it
CatelynnMarie 4,406
Honestly I don't understand why either in terms of the gp. I know at the time it was highly rumored/ anticipated she would be debuting a new song (lead single) and there was a lot of disappointment with that, but overall omg it's one of my fave performances. I had one of the most amazing experiences watching it and I couldn't stop watching it either. I loved everything about it. edit: rewatching, i can maybe see why. it's very gimmicky. people probably just felt like it was another "shock value for gimmicks/ disrespectful" performance from a pop artist who at the time, was known for "shock value" amongst the gp, well, if they didn't understand the concept of art/ high fashion anyway. also, there were a few things that went wrong with the intel product incorporation (thinking back i remember it was a thing where the rings weren't working properly with the holograms). the piano was a bit much, i think i always thought that, but maybe if it was just a regular gaga piano situation, it would have made it better. UGH that Fashion into Let's Dance into Fame is SO GOOD, I love that mashup. but yeah, with the scenario of everything, timing, a whole different performance originally planned and then i think it was like only two weeks of planning this performance or something. kurtz 52
Huge Bowie fan and I’ve always felt Gaga is kind of a spiritual daughter of Bowie in how she has used glammed up visuals to enhance her music. I liked her Grammy performance but agree with others that it would have been far better to do one song like “Fame” or “Rebel Rebel”. In fact I would love to see her cover one or both songs in future shows. I was thrilled when she included a little of “I’m Afraid of Americans” in her Enigma show. More Bowie covers please! Yoha 68
This is the first time I have seen this show. These discussions seem a bit complicated. But anyway, I thought it was cool and I liked it.
