phantasmas 10,231 Posted December 13, 2022 Share Posted December 13, 2022 Background info per a press release from the LA County District Attorney's Office published on 10/08/2020: Reveal hidden contents The rap artist known as Tory Lanez has been charged with assaulting a female friend in the Hollywood Hills earlier this year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today [10/08/2020]. Daystar Peterson aka Tory Lanez (dob 7/27/92) was charged today in case BA490599 with one felony count each of assault with semiautomatic firearm – personal use of a firearm – and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. The defendant also faces a gun allegation and that he personally inflicted great bodily injury. His arraignment is scheduled for October 13 [2020] in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta of the Family Violence Division is prosecuting the case. On July 12 [2020], the defendant and the 24-year-old victim got into an argument while riding in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills. The victim exited the vehicle and Peterson is accused of shooting several times at her feet and wounding her. If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in state prison. The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, Hollywood Division. DISCLAIMER: Statements from Megan and Tory's camps have disclosed little info to the public since the trial started this week. The trial will not be televised but reporters have been at the courthouse attempting to report on the case. I am doing my best to only pull from reliable sources and will be editing this thread in the coming days so bare with me! DAY 1 (Dec 12) - Opening Statements [Prosecutors Side]: Reveal hidden contents - Prosecutors began the trial by quoting Tory Lanez saying, "Dance, b*tch" before firing shots at Megan thee Stallion. - Prosecutors stated that before the shooting, Megan and Tory had been in an argument where she had called his music "trash" and refuted the allegations that their argument was regarding a love triangle between Megan, Tory, and their friend Kelsey Harris. - After being shot, Megan took cover at a nearby residence and was followed by Kelsey who was attempting to offer her help. Tory followed them both. Kelsey approached Tory to keep him away from Megan. Tory punched Kelsey then pulled her to the ground by her hair. Tory then demanded that Kelsey and Megan both return to the vehicle and they complied. - Prosecutors then provided evidence showing that Kelsey had sent a text message to Megan's bodyguard which read, "Help, Tory shot Meg, 911" - When the vehicle was pulled over by police, they found a “warm” firearm in a “slide lock position” which indicates every bullet in the firearm had been used - Prosecutors then provided three pieces of evidence: 1.) Tory apologized to Kelsey during a call from jail and blamed his actions that night on being drunk 2.) Tory sent a text apologizing to Megan 3.) Tory allegedly apologized to Megan's bodyguard, Justin Edison - Prosecutors also explained why gun residue was found on both Tory and Kelsey: they allege that Tory shot the firearm but Kelsey tested for GSR because she was next to Tory when he shot the firearm. GSR also got on her after Tory assaulted Kelsey for attempting to block him from approaching Megan. [Defense's Side]: Reveal hidden contents - The defense called out the prosecutors for not mentioning Megan's “drunken jealous tirade” that led to Kylie Jenner kicking her out of her pool party before the incident occurred. - The defense alleges that Megan had a history of stealing Kelsey's boyfriends such as DaBaby and Ben Simmons which Tory claims Kelsey confessed to him. This allegedly led to an argument between Megan and Kelsey. During the argument, Megan allegedly demanded that the SUV be pulled over, went to Kelsey's side, and began to beat her up. - The defense cross examined Officer Diaz and called out contradictions found in the labeling of evidence. Officer Diaz did not take photos of the blood trails at the time and was only able to provide grainy body cam footage. - The defense also cross examined Officer Cabrera who testified that Kelsey was the last person to get out of the vehicle when they were pulled over. The defense asked the officer if it was possible that Kelsey could have been the one with the gun and had placed it on Tory's seat before exiting. The officer agreed that that could be a possibility. DAY 2 (Dec 13) - Megan Testifies Reveal hidden contents - Megan arrived at the LA courthouse to testify against Tory Lanez. During her steps into the courthouse, she was asked how she was feeling and gave a thumbs up. When asked if she felt nervous, she nodded her head to signal "no." Tory also arrived to the courthouse with his son although his son has nothing to do with the trial. - During her testimony, Megan recounted her friendship with Kelsey Harris. She met Kelsey in college and made her her assistant when her career began to take off. She also stated that she and Tory had become friends and had bonded after the loss of their mothers. She ended her friendships with both after the incident. - Megan continued to say that before the incident, they had attended a pool party at Kylie Jenner's house. At one point, Megan asked Tory that they leave. Tory grew upset with Megan for asking him to leave which then led to an argument on the way home. - During the ride home, Tory remained upset at both women and began to throw insults and expletives towards them. The arguing continued and Megan asked for the vehicle to be pulled over so she could leave. She realized that because of her newfound celebrity status, she would look "crazy" for being on a main road wearing nothing but a bikini. This realization made her want to return to the vehicle. She then turned her head towards the vehicle to see Tory holding a gun. He then yelled out, "Dance, b*itch!" before shooting her. - After being shot, Megan claimed that Tory offered her a million dollars for her to remain silent about the situation. When he mentioned that he was on probation, she felt that he was more upset over getting into further trouble than for actually shooting her. She also explained that she initially lied to police as she feared they would suffer brutality at the hands of the police. - After the court returned from lunch break, Megan continued her testimony. Emotional and teary, Megan stated that she was having difficulty having to sit across from Tory and continued to insist that it was him that shot her, not Kelsey. - Megan also expressed that the aftermath has been even more difficult than the actual incident. She said that because she has spoken up against Tory in a male-dominated industry, men were prone to take his side by default. She has experienced a large amount of slut-shaming and misogynoir because of this. She told the court that she wished Tory had just killed her if she knew she was going to go through all of this. Also shameful that artists like Drake and others have even MOCKED Megan. Like even if you somehow do not believe her...at least have the decency to give her the benefit of the doubt and to not publicly shame her or mock her. How cruel? She probably foolishly assumed people would simply believe her because she literally had proof of being shot at or hurt right in front of EVERYONE's eyes yet EVEN with the proof and police report and everything ppl STILL mocked and did not believe her.
