craig 680
THe other main scheme is that the veiled insults made Gaga a hypocrite and the fact that she used the Born This Way foundation as a crutch while being a hypocrite made it all worse, for me. Shes not the Patron Saint of Bullied Kids, shes a popstar who uses that stuff to sell albums tbh...when it comes down to it. Kelly and lots of haters use that against her all the time anyway, as if being anti-bullying means she's never allowed to stand up for herself. misanthrope 15
Apart from the generalization, was she wrong? Is it not justified to call someone "out of hand" or "vile" after they've sent you death threats and telling you they hope you get raped and die? Is Kelly the first person to have ever mentioned Gaga's name (or her fans for that matter) in a bad way? Why attack Kelly and not other people who have said the same thing. If I do recall correctly, Porcelain Black has said the same thing Kelly did about Little Monsters after they threatened and attacked her on Twitter. And besides, what part - besides the generalization - of Kelly's comments was false? Was She wrong for defending herself against death threats and calling those people out for what they are, which is vile and disgusting? Shes not wrong for defending herself against death threats. I never said she was. But she made a massively slanderous comment about this fanbase as a whole, criticized Gagas character as a role model and as an artist on multiple occasions, and etc etc. I mean shes not the first person no, but this is whats happening now. This is the issue at hand. Its not about Porcelain Black and its not about Perez Hilton. Gaga chose to respond to Kelly. As I said, its trivial of you to criticize her for not addressing others while simultaneously criticizing her for addressing anyone at all. Joe Matthews 11
what of course she was wrong she made it look like we all trashed her, when it actually some random internet troll. Than she goes all cry cry on us not fair tbh Apart from the generalization, was she wrong? Is it not justified to call someone "out of hand" or "vile" after they've sent you death threats and telling you they hope you get raped and die? marrytheknight2012 0
Kelly slandered her fanbase. I hardly find it that hypocritical of her to respond to that negatively. But im not going to sit here and defend her. Its of no use. I dont see it as slandering a fan base, most logical people realize that when you say 'fans' you dont mean the entire group. Its like when I say 'Brazilians are stupid' I don't mean all of them obviously. one could use brackets to illustrate a point [ in my experience] Brazilians are stupid. seee? Often done in interviews, some words are left out, especially when talking on twitter, theres no time to point 'the Lady Gaga fans which I have came into contact with are scathing little bastards, they told me to die and I hate them. so instead she said lady gaga fans. or what have you, do you see this possibility or am I reaching for the orbit. creeves 245
Uhm excuse me, Osbourne called out Gaga in public first. Gaga wasn't the one that made this public. The stupidity being displayed here is ridiculous.
Muh 144
Guys we need to do something. In some way this is all our fault (those fans who indeed bully others fault) now Gaga is standing up for us. We need to do something. They can judge us all based on the behaviour of a few "monsters". I'm really worried that everyone will start criticizing + hating on Gaga (Madonna, Perez, The Osbournes, etc..) then al the GP will follow them. WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING! Doot 2
1. Kelly made it public first. 2. Kelly was made fun of her whole life, yet now she thinks its okay to do to others. 3. Sharon doesnt support wearing fur, but her husband bites the head off of animals on a regular basis. 4. So, Sharon doesnt okay wearing fur, but she okays people talking **** about another? But what you are doing is only giving Kelly the benefit of the doubt and not Gaga. Do you see? You're vehemently criticizing little aspects of Gagas response and how she responded yet Kellys statement is just "she doesnt have time to be specific; everyone knows she doesnt mean that". I get what you're saying but at the same time I think your argument is also flawed. Edited January 11, 2013 by misanthrope
marrytheknight2012 0
This is a bullying issue, so she spoke not as a musician, but as head of her anti bullying foundation. Its a bullying issue, she should have wrote that letter with Born This Way 'Foundation' letterhead to the fans and not to a celebrity who was bullied by her fans. She shouldnt insult people while using her platform on that foundation. Being hypocritical with a foundation is a sure fire way to not get donations and likely get your non profit status revoked. Joe Matthews 11
It's a fuzzy line, no doubt, because you can't tell what's in a person's head. As long as Gaga believes the things she says, then she's not likely a hypocrite, unless maybe she messed up a LOT. But she hasn't messed up a lot. She has been a fine example. Most people I know throw more shade in a week than Gaga does in a year. :) A true story: I knew a girl who was hooked on meth. She warned everyone else to not do meth, but she still did meth. Was she being a hypocrite? I don't believe so, because I think she's really just telling everyone to save themselves and not fall into the trap she's in. I guess our opinions vary on that subject. But isn't that what makes the world an interesting place? People are all different and the only way you can achieve some sort of insight is by not only respecting but also understanding other people's point of view. I do understand yours and I respect it, but I have to acknowledge the fact that it differs from mine. Shes not wrong for defending herself against death threats. I never said she was. But she made a massively slanderous comment about this fanbase as a whole, criticized Gagas character as a role model and as an artist on multiple occasions, and etc etc. I mean shes not the first person no, but this is whats happening now. As I said, its trivial of you to criticize her for not addressing others while simultaneously criticizing her for addressing anyone at all. Can I get the quote for that massively slanderous comment please? I'm wondering what could possibly be more horrible to say about a fanbase than a personal death threat.
