"welcome tithe real world"

Well I'm the real world, young teens make threats. Adults shrug it off.

And Kelly made it public first :nails:

Gaga's letter is in response to Kelly's interview....why the hell is Sharon complaining about Gaga going public?

Because Sharon contacted Vincent Herbert in private. The whole issue was supposed to be handled behind the scenes. Instead, Gaga decided to get offended by Sharon's email to Vincent and publicize the whole argument.

Let's be real here for a second. Kelly Osbourne is a comedian. She makes a living off of criticizing other people and making jokes at other people's expense. That's her right. Freedom of speech and all that. Next you're gonna tell me Kathy Griffin or Joan Rivers deserve death threats too. Gaga's effort and concern - although sweet - was totally out of place and to be perfectly honest, the goals she's setting for herself to create a peaceful and accepting world filled with love and sunshine and rainbows are quite unrealistic. It's not her job to change the world. Her job is to influence the people who look up to her in a positive way.

That's why she should've directed her concern at the Twitter Monsters wishing death upon other celebrities,, instead of attacking the celebrities themselves. Start small, Gaga. You can't change the world in a day, but you can at least try to change your fans.

Tweeting about not condoning the death threats might not have solved the whole thing, but it sure would have showed her compassion towards Kelly and the situation she's in.

tl;dr Gaga handled this the wrong way and Sharon was right for dragging her.

Flippy

[1] Why can't Kelly respond herself

[2] Stating that hatred is rampant in the "real world" does not justify it

[3] Are the Osbourne's vegetarians, because if they're not, they stuff animal flesh into their faces everyday, and Gaga just decided to where it

[4] Fur is irrelevant to Kelly putting down the LM fanbase, Sharon has also worn fur before. Ozzy has also killed many animals - lots of them publically on stage (like biting the heads off bats)

[5] Sharon is pretty much saying, she can't justify Kelly's hateful behaviour, she cannot rebut here. This statement is unneccesary and sentimental for no reason. Furthermore, how can she call others an attention seeker when she let camera's into her family home for a reality show about all her family's pointless everyday quotidians

[6] Kelly made this public first by commenting about it in the press, at least Gaga is open and upfront about it instead of using the media as a intermediary for hatred

[7] Gaga has said many times that she wants her fans to behave, yet there are always deviants in any group, she can't control everything they do

[8] Are Rihanna and Madonna's fans just as vile to Gaga as well? Gaga also publicly told monsters to stop bullying Adele

[9] A failure to argue logically (as you have digressed many times and made a lot of unbacked rebuttals) leads Sharon to resort to expletives (quite typical of her family though). A similar situation is when Sharon resorted to violence when she was rebutted after furiously attacking a girl and stating that she doesn't deserve to live: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=cJV5voXX7L8

[10] Gaga has never asked or conscripted her fans to be hateful toward others

[11] Gaga can't control her fanbase, Sharon is ignorant to think a few words can change people

I praise you! :legend:

In a way, Sharon saved the situation, by making Gaga's letter look very mature in comparison. :)

Not that Gaga's letter wasn't mature, but it was critical of Kelly in a way that Kelly can't answer, because Kelly would lose ratings if she actually followed Gaga's advice. Never paint someone into a corner to where their only choice is to attack you...which is exactly what happened here. Kelly's only way out was to launch a true attack (rather than address how she treats others), and she got her mom to do it for her.

I agree Gaga handled it the wrong way. I disagree in that I think Sharon is only making the matters worse, not better.

But do you really think Gaga tweeting about love would stop people from sending stupid threats? Gaga has power, but not that much power.

That's not what I said.

Tweeting about not condoning the death threats might not have solved the whole thing, but it sure would have showed her compassion towards Kelly and the situation she's in.

It wouldn't have changed all that much, but at least it would've taken the blame off of her and she wouldn't be able to be held accountable for what some Twitter Monsters post.

Eh, I guess you're right, but on the other hand I think Sharon's just acting on her motherly instincts. She just wants to protect her daughter, which is reasonable considering the circumstances. In the end it all comes down to Gaga's open letter. No open letter, no dragging by Sharon.
